AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry-Level Structural Engineer for employment in the Hunt Valley, MD office. Under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer:
Analyze and design of structural components and assemblies for a variety of building types, utilizing steel, concrete, masonry and timber.
Prepare and draft of construction documents, including framing layout, detail development and schedules of items such as columns, foundations and walls.
Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks.
Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities
Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids
Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Architectural engineering, emphasis in Structural Engineering or other related field required
Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software
Strong communication skills in written and verbal
Organized, detail-oriented and time-management skills
Experience working as a design engineer on Facilities Structures projects
Basic knowledge of steel, concrete, masonry and timber design
Knowledge of loads, physics, and materials to understand and predict how structures support and resist self-weight and imposed loads
Familiar with Revit and/or AutoCAD is preferred
Basic knowledge of industry standard structural design software for the position (examples include RAM, RISA, Enercalc)
Familiar with current design codes and specifications such as IBC, AISC and ACI
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred
Previous work experience in Structural Engineering is preferred (including internship/coop)
