AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Entry-Level Engineer - Aviation for a position in the Aviation Design Group in the Hunt Valley, MD office. AECOM is pleased to include you in a unique development opportunity, the Graduate Development Program (GDP). This program is designed to support your assimilation into the organization and assist with creating a foundation of knowledge for a successful career at AECOM. The Hunt Valley Aviation Design Group has been serving Maryland and Mid-Atlantic aviation clients for over 50 years, with such clients as Baltimore/Washington Thurgood Marshall Airport, Philadelphia International Airport, John F. Kennedy International, Detroit Wayne County Metropolitan Airport, Ocean City Municipal Airport, Republic Airport (New York), and Naval Air Station Patuxent River. Aviation projects range in type and scale – from runway extension at a General Aviation airport, to a taxiway reconstruction at a commercial service airport, to an apron supporting a new hangar at a military facility. The Aviation Civil Group interacts with many other disciplines (Planners, Architects, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Civil, Environmental, and Special Systems Engineers) in typical designs supporting our airport clients.
Under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer:
Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids
Develop solutions for routine technical problems with limited scope
Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
Create Design Development Plans in Civil 3D
Estimation of costs using Excel
Perform site surveys of the project areas
Write project narratives in WORD
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field required
Interest in Aviation design projects
Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software
Ability to work within a team and in a multi-disciplinary environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Self-motivated individual looking to advance their career in a dynamic team
Must be able to acquire and maintain an airport security badge
Due to the nature of this work, U.S. Citizenship is required
Willingness to travel
Must possess a valid driver's license
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred
Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Civil 3D)
Aviation or related experience (i.e. Transportation, roadway/highway design or construction projects)
