Our talented experts are dedicated to managing the complexity inherent in construction projects, catering to each client’s unique needs. We provide services such as program management, construction management and owner’s representation to our clients around the globe.
Initial heavy focus on business development for large-scale commercial construction supporting the business portfolio in the greater Houston, Texas market.
Supporting the Regional Executives, will provide strategy and execution for new business development in the regional market for Building Construction. Key market segments include: Hotel/hospitality, Hi-rise multi-family, mixed use commercial, aviation, stadiums, healthcare, correctional facilities, convention centers, schools, building repositioning and interiors work. The primary focus of this position is day-to-day business development, marketing and sales efforts.
Working in conjunction with the Regional Operation Executive, corporate marketing and business executives, and collaborating with other Business Lines, develop and implement strategic objectives and execute tactics for the business development and marketing efforts to both current and potential clients.
Develop strategic business growth and marketing plans, anticipate opportunities, and identify market trends in order to grow the region. Build strong relationships and interact regularly with clients, existing and potential JV’s, other Business Groups and stakeholders linked to the region and market sectors. Serve as an ambassador for the Building Construction business line and market sector.
Business Development: Generate, evaluate and follow up on leads, to identify and select key business opportunities, strategic partners and JV’s. Define business development strategy and capture plans- short and long term. Identify and mitigate risks during the pursuit process. Negotiate favorable contract terms and conditions, manage achievement of cost of sales, gross margin, backlog, and other related financial and business goals. Continuously interact with clients assuring satisfaction and interact with project delivery personnel to ensure any service issues are identified and addressed in a proactive manner.
Strategy: Develop and maintain a strategic direction for the Regional Building Construction office, to include business plans, overall budgets, staffing requirements and feasibility studies for new revenue streams. Collaborate with the SVP of Mid-West Operations, Construction Services Strategy, Construction Services executives and other appropriate AECOM leadership to procure multiple contracts, leverage JV’s and partnerships.
Key Partnerships/Reporting relationships:
Collaborate with the Building Construction sector leaders to grow the regional footprint. Establish priorities for pipeline development of business and assess key personnel needed for pursuits. Lead the sales planning process for the Regional office to ensure financial success.
Prepare and implement business development action plans for targeted markets and customers. Keep all apprised of actions planned by involved members of the corporate team.
In conjunction with Construction Services marketing and communications, develop major proposals, presentation and brochure materials.
Provide expert advice and direction to drive proposals through to contract award, including identifying new customers and markets, developing approaches to the market, identifying prospects, and proposal preparation. May assist with final contract negotiations with client.
Key Performance Indicators:
SNB (Sold not booked) conversion
Manages or provides oversight on projects of significant size and complexity, and significant financial impact.
Interacts with executive level government or public officials and/or executive level clients on significant project matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
Responsible for staff development, hiring, resource allocations, and employee relations issues.
Provides leadership for all project delivery activities for geographic office.
Develops, implements and directs a consistent, high performance approach to drive excellence in project delivery including financial performance, technical excellence, project controls, quality, risk, claims and client satisfaction.
Develops, implements and manages project risk identification and mitigation strategies, programs and processes across entire project portfolio.
Conducts reviews and audits of major projects, including client interface and satisfaction.
Participates and, when necessary, directs activities to mitigate project issues, including loss margin, claims, delivery, schedule, quality and relationships.
Directs Project Delivery Leaders and provides oversight of office project performance.
Coordinates with other geographies on major projects related to the geography, as appropriate.
Provides oversight and coordination of technology integration for delivery of major projects.
Four year technical or business administration degree or equivalent plus extensive (20+ years) experience in the management of construction segments including8+ years in leadership of project delivery, project management, risk management, and/or quality assurance
Advanced knowledge of the construction industry and company operations.
Knowledge of financial operations, marketing, estimating and employee relations.
Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and analytical skills as necessary.
10+ years of director-level business development experience in the large-scale construction management industry, with special emphasis on the key market sectors.
Direct knowledge of the regional Construction Management industry, gained with hands-on experience in Business Development in the Mid-West (specifically Houston)
Ability to travel extensively throughout the region.
Proven success in business industry and successfully growing the business.
