Job Summary

URS, an AECOM Company, is bidding on the contract to provide Facilities Support Services (FSSC) to NASA at the Johnson Space Center, Houston, Texas. The FSSC provides critical support to NASA in the areas of Facility Maintenance and Repair Services, Engineering and Construction Projects, Information Technology Management Support, Wildlife Management, Environmental Support and Rigging Services. Award of this contract is anticipated to be October, 2017. Contract operations would then commence 1 March 2018. We seek qualified, experienced "key" employees who will provide critical support services in a variety of functional areas. Incumbents are strongly encouraged to apply.


Purpose and Scope:

Provides Lead responsibility in electrical, mechanical, HVAC or civil/structural engineering with regard to complex engineering assignments including operation and maintenance of diverse electronic/mechanical equipment and systems and civil/structural components. Keeps abreast of current industry practices, training, tools, etc. Provides expert technical advice and leadership concerning the O&M programs including RCM, PT&I, and PMs as well as field supervision to craft for mechanical, electrical and structural related repairs. Provides leadership and supervision with regard to retro –commissioning practices. Works closely with NASA monitors regarding costs and schedules.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Performs engineering calculations, prepares specifications, performs analyses, performs testing, issues reports and maintains related data on assignments of advanced complexity.

  2. Prepares, reviews and approves drawings as required.

  3. Ensures quality, quantity and completeness of the assigned engineering tasks.

  4. Keeps proper engineering files and records.

  5. Continually upgrades technical knowledge and capabilities and pursues additional coursework and training.

  6. May provide technical guidance to a modest sized group of engineers, designers, and specialists.

  7. Fully versed in the methods of business development and able to lead the preparation of proposals.

  8. Fully versed with codes, permits and company cornerstone applications.

  9. Fully versed with and can check and review the work sequence, general content, and the methods used to generate specifications for the purchase of material, equipment, systems, services, or construction within a specific discipline.

  10. Fully versed with the process of preparing and checking of calculations as well as the approval, revision, retention, and storage of calculations with a specific discipline.

  11. Can oversee the review and checking of construction and vendor drawings.

  12. Fully versed in the collection and/or evaluation of data and information regarding technical and economic factors including physical, chemical, environmental, maintenance, operational, regulatory, constructability, and/or schedule factors relating to a specific subject within a discipline.

  13. Leads or assists with the development of manpower, man-hour, and labor cost requirements for a project and can monitor it to aid in evaluating the budget.

  14. Leads estimating tasks and performs material take-offs for a specific discipline.

  15. Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines. Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance. Position may require travel.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor of Science Degree (or equivalent education) in an appropriate engineering discipline such as electrical, mechanical or civil/structural from a four -year accredited college or university. Experience: 10 years of experience required or 7 years related experience and Professional Engineer License. Good oral and written communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required. Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance. Position may require travel.

Preferred Qualifications Incumbent workforce preferred.
