Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Supervising Discipline Electrical Engineer II to be based in our Houston, TX location.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the discipline's engineering with that of other disciplines.

  • Maintains records, files and other documents pertaining to the discipline.

  • Complies with company’s safety awareness program, office and/or field safety policies.

  • Assists the Project Engineering Manager in identifying the engineering documents that must comply with regulatory/licensing requirements.

  • Assumes “in charge” responsibility for ensuring that engineering documents comply with applicable state laws/regulations, including affixing registered engineer seal when required.

  • May manage groups of engineers, designers and/or specialists with minimal guidance or supervision.

  • Works toward achieving compatibility of customer's and company’s objectives.

  • Assigns preparers and checkers for discipline specifications and coordinates review of external specifications.

  • Establishes schedules and budgets to meet project requirements and obtains approval.

  • Maintains technical coordination with the Principal Engineer to ensure adherence to industry codes, regulatory requirements and sound engineering practices.

  • Coordinates engineering activities for a discipline with those of other disciplines on the project.

  • Directs the preparation and submits periodic reports and forecasts on the status of the discipline.

  • Schedules, directs and documents discipline engineering meetings between project management, client, vendors and other engineering groups.

  • Complies with state requirements for continuing education, maintains and obtains licenses as requested.

  • Continually upgrades technical knowledge and capabilities and pursues additional coursework and training.

  • Advises the Project Engineering Manager regarding status of assignment(s) with respect to schedule, budgets, delays and adverse problems.

  • Works closely with Chief Discipline Engineers, Principal Engineers and Project Engineering Managers on employees’ evaluations and promotions and the overall technical improvement of the group.

  • Fully versed in the work sequence, general content, and methods used to generate specifications for the purchase of material, equipment, systems, services, or construction within engineer's discipline.

Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or the sciences from a four year ABET accredited college or university.


  • 5 years of electrical engineering experience, involving the engineering and design of complex electrical systems for the oil & gas industry.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word and Excel

  • Previous experience checking and reviewing the work sequence, general content, and methods used to generate specifications

  • Must be capable of using ETAP design software to solve complex issues with direction from senior staff.

  • Previous experience performing engineering calculations, preparing specifications, performing analyses, drawing reviews and maintaining related data.

  • Professional Engineering License required

  • Previous experience in a supervisory / lead role, to include:

  • Lead estimating tasks

  • Lead the planning and scheduling of engineering tasks

  • Lead the development of staffing plans, labor hour, and labor cost requirements for projects(s) and monitoring it against the budget

  • Interfacing with interdisciplinary leads effectively to work through project tasks

  • Provides technical supervision, mentoring and guidance to a team of engineers, designers or specialists

Preferred Qualifications

  • PE in the state of Texas or New Mexico

  • 10 years of electrical engineering experience, involving the engineering and design of complex electrical systems for the oil & gas industry.

  • Proficient use of SKM

  • Proficient use of EasyPower
