We create comprehensive delivery solutions for water, wastewater and wet weather systems, desalination, water resources, water reuse, tunneling, and community infrastructure through traditional and alternative delivery services such as program management and design-build.

Job Summary

AECOM’s Water Business Unit is actively seeking a creative, innovative, and highly motivated Industrial Water/ Wastewater Engineer for immediate employment in the Houston, Texas office. AECOM is searching for candidates that have the ability to be a role model, be client-focused, be impactful, and be decisive.

The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate a career in design / engineering, specific to water and wastewater infrastructure engineering projects. Our people bring deep industry knowledge and we are proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Support AECOM’s water/wastewater business with a variety of primarily industrial, but some municipal, clients in Houston and throughout the Gulf Coast Region

  • Prepare proposals, technical reports, drawings, visual aids, and presentations

  • Verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards / practices

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams

  • Make decisions independently on engineering problems and methods

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience

  • Professional Engineer registration or ability to obtain

  • Experience developing engineering deliverables such as material balance, PFDs. P&IDs, equipment lists, General arrangement drawings, data sheets, technical specifications, and other detailed engineering deliverables

  • Familiarity with industry stage gate processes

  • Ability to manage small teams of process and discipline engineers and designers

  • Ability to develop scope of work, project cost estimates, and schedules and write complete proposals

  • Self-starter and ability to take initiative

  • Excellent oral and written communication and possess the ability to be client-facing

  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related field.

  • Ability to take a project from inception through conceptual, preliminary and detailed designs, and ultimately through construction and commissioning

  • Strong report and proposal writing capability

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to be client-facing

  • Experience in the refining/petrochemical industry

  • Treatability study (bench/pilot scale) experience

  • Modeling experience: Water quality models, Biowin, GPS-X Hydromantis, etc.

  • Business development experience including client relations, proposal preparation, and professional leadership activities
