Job Summary

As a key member of the AECOM Total Rewards Centre of Expertise (CoE) team, the Compensation and Benefits Lead in APAC provides strategic leadership on the design and implementation of the compensation and benefits programs that support the APAC business strategy. The individual must be a proven, results-oriented manager who has strong technical knowledge and experience of partnering with HR business partners and senior management on performance and reward issues. The ideal candidate will be well versed in the underlying data and survey methodologies and will also have the ability and experience in summarizing and reporting to senior management. This role also requires building and managing relationships across internal client groups based on influence, execution, teamwork, and business acumen. The position involves managing a team of Compensation and Benefits Specialists across the region.

Reporting to the Head of HR, APAC and the Head of Global Compensation, the individual will work closely with the HR leadership and Business Leaders across APAC in the development of compensation and benefits programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partners with the APAC HR leaders and with Corporate Global Compensation and Global Benefits counterparts in the innovative design, implementation, and management of compensation programs and initiatives which include base and variable pay programs as well as benefits programs including health care, group and retirement plans

  • Works closely with regional HR leaders and Total Rewards Center of Excellence (CoE) team to ensure that compensation and benefits programs are competitive and aligned with the global compensation framework (providing consulting on senior level hires, incentive plan design, position and pay program evaluation and benchmarking) and global benefits strategy

  • Participates in design, and manages the implementation, communication and delivery of the APAC compensation programs and practices including base pay, annual bonus and incentive programs, training, tools, processes and governance

  • Provides thought leadership and drives changes necessary to move towards best practices

  • Partners with and influences business leaders, functional partners and HR partners to design, evaluate and recommend compensation programs that align with company’s total rewards strategy and philosophy, and the external market

  • Develops strong partnerships with the HR leaders, business leadership, and Talent Acquisition teams to identify and resolve compensation related business challenges and provide compensation consulting expertise

  • Responsible for managing the annual Compensation Planning Cycle process for APAC

  • Leads implementation of AECOM’s job title architecture, career banding program, and other compensation programs across the operating group

  • Monitors compensation programs to ensure compliance with internal guidelines and regulatory requirements

  • Recommends innovative improvements to programs

  • Develops effective communication and training programs to educate and create awareness of compensation and benefits programs with executives, managers and employees

Minimum Requirements

  • 12+ years of increasingly responsible compensation experience with 5 years of people management experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • Prior multi-country experience in a large, publicly traded organization or Fortune 500 firm preferred

  • Knowledge and experience with management of compensation programs across APAC a plus

  • Experience designing and implementing multiple large-scale compensation programs, strong project management and prioritization skills and excellent stakeholder management skills

  • Strong advisory and influencing skills at the management level – ability to build and manage relationships and set clear expectations with key business partners

  • Strong knowledge of current market trends and practices in broad-based compensation, including short-term incentive plan design

  • Strong experience in problem solving and ability to think strategically, analytically and creatively

  • Ability to lead change within a company undergoing integration and transformation

  • Deep knowledge base/expertise in rewards design and ability to develop and convey compelling business cases for compensation recommendations

  • Strong process orientation, a systems thinker who considers the entire rewards perspective

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Experience leading teams, motivating, coaching and developing high performers

  • Strong MS Office skills, advanced Excel and PowerPoint

  • Experience with online rewards planning tool and global Human Capital Management system
