AECOM’s Global Support Services (GSS) organization resides within AECOM’s Government business line and is comprised of three divisions — International Development, Operations and Mission Support, and Global Programs. GSS has the international presence, personnel networks and procurement infrastructure to deliver support for any mission, anywhere. We optimize the reliability, availability and sustainability of equipment, logistics systems and facilities for clients around the world. GSS supports the U.S. Government, non-U.S. Governments and industry clients with worldwide program management, planning, design, operations and maintenance, logistics, aviation services, security, international development, environmental and civil engineering and mission and intelligence support.

Job Summary

Responsibilities include but are not limited to;

  1. Diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing radar and positioning systems.

  2. Working with the Engineering department to adapt or modify equipment to meet customer’s requirements.

  3. Performing preventive maintenance inspections on equipment and to determine what maintenance is needed.

  4. Researching and ordering replacement components and spare parts for radar and position control system.

  5. Utilize safe rigging and lifting techniques.

  6. Setting up and testing various types of electronic equipment to determine equipment specifications and performance.

  7. Recommend improvements to maintenance methods, system and equipment performance as well as operational efficiencies.

  8. Analyzes work problems and recommends solutions.

  9. Train and mentor subordinate technicians

  10. Follows all OSHA Safety Regulations.

  11. Safely utilizes various measuring, diagnostic and testing instruments to help provide efficient solutions.

  12. Maintains a strict schedule in order to successfully complete assignments on time.

  13. Other duties as assigned by Lead Technician, Management or Supervisor.

  5. This position will require the ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance at our client’s location and their customer program access.

Other Attributes:

  1. This position will require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules for extended periods of time.

  2. Must be willing to work overtime when required.

  3. Must be capable of working independently with minimal or no supervision.

Minimum Requirements

Basic Minimum Qualifications:

Three years’ experience as an Engineering Technician or an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Electronics Technology, or Military training certifications in Depot level electronic maintenance and repair with demonstrated knowledge.

High school diploma with demonstrated knowledge, and three years experience.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Must be capable maintaining physical condition to regularly lift up to 50 pounds.

  2. Must be capable of regularly climbing extension ladders, tower ladders, stepladders and stairs.

  3. Requires the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitively.

  4. Requires the ability to regularly kneel.

  5. Requires the ability to repetitively stretch or reach horizontal or vertically.

  6. Must be capable to walk extensively.

  7. Must be capable of differentiating colors pertaining to wire color coding.

  8. Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Basic experience in operating, diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing instrumentation radar systems (from HF to microwave frequencies up to Ka Band).

  2. Extensive working knowledge and technical experience in utilizing schematics, diagrams, and appropriate test equipment to solve analog and digital electronic problems as well as in motion control systems (Turntables , Rotators and Antenna positioning and control )

  3. Basic experience in the set up and measurements of Electronic and Microwave systems and components.

  • Antenna alignment and basic antenna gain measurements.

  • Measurements of Radar Parameters ( PRF, PW, Duty Cycle, Transmit Receive Polarization)

  • Power and performance measurements of High power amplifiers (TWTA, Klystron, Solid-State)

  • Power and performance measurements of Low noise and general purpose amplifiers

  • Solid state switches (high and low power and frequency)

  • RF and microwave passive components

  • Coaxial Cable and Waveguide

  • Digital logic and circuitry

  • AC and DC voltage, power and components

  1. Basic experience in setting up operating and performing measurements with test equipment.
  • Spectrum Analyzers

  • Signal Generators/Synthesizers

  • Vector Network Analyzers (to include full 2 port calibration)

  • Fiber Optic Loss and Time Domain Reflectometer Instruments

  • Oscilloscopes

  • Standard voltage and power measurement instruments

Basic computer knowledge of;

  • Windows 7 Operating System.

  • Microsoft Office.

Able to use and understand the following disciplines of math and their applications;

  • Basic Algebra

  • Basic Geometry

  • Elementary Statistics

  • Mean

  • Median

  • Variance

  • Standard Deviation

  • Basic Trigonometry

  • Basic knowledge of the Radar Equation

  1. NASA Certified soldering skill.

  2. Knowledge of installing and maintaining electronic systems, chassis and components.
