AECOM is actively seeking an Editor to support our team in Herndon, MD. The successful candidate will plan, design, edit, and proofread translated documents such as technical publications, reports, proposals, and correspondence for internal distribution, customer reference, or publication.
Edit reports, publications, proposals and correspondence to ensure clarity of content, consistency of format and accuracy of grammar.
Responsible for quality control, production and distribution of documents in accordance with schedules.
Apply working knowledge of technical literature and various style guides including in-depth knowledge of customer specifications and instructions regarding documentation and publication standards.
Participate in the development and maintenance of technical manuals, assist with validation, verification, resolve discrepancies and deficiencies, and assess the accuracy and adequacy of technical manual requirements for printing.
Utilize personal computers with integrated software packages.
Assist in the production and distribution of documents.
Maintain a filing system of documents and work order files for documents received for processing.
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Must be of US Citizenship to support a US Government Contract.
Excellent command of English grammar and composition.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to interact with multinational and multicultural employees.
Ability to work well under pressure and turn around short-fuse requests without sacrificing accuracy.
Proficiency in MS Office suite and familiarity with online dictionaries, and other reference tools.
Ability to discern information of value and write an abstract in a succinct, understandable format that follows applicable operational and style guidelines.
Bachelor's degree in English literature or social sciences or more than 5 years of work experience with portfolio of writing composition available for examination.
Knowledge of current international affairs and the dynamics of US relations with major regional and international players.
Experience editing translated texts for clarity and accuracy.
Experience providing clear and fair feedback to linguists in person and electronically.
Working knowledge of foreign language, preferably Arabic, Farsi, Dari/Pashto, or Chinese
Experience in effectively performing work in a time-sensitive environment and working multiple actions simultaneously
