Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a Waste Handler for immediate employment at MCB-Hawaii. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Waste Handling. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide on-site support services in the Hazardous Waste Management Program at Marine Corps Base Hawaii

  • Conduct waste pick-ups from units and work centers

  • Review Waste Accumulation and Turn-In Documents and associated paperwork for accuracy and completeness

  • Process waste and serve as Lead Waste Handler at Waste Processing Facility, in accordance with BHWAS requirements and guidelines

  • Enter waste records into database and maintain hazardous waste logbooks

  • Verify waste pick-ups are properly classified and packaged for shipment, in accordance with applicable regulations

  • Be trained and capable of responding to controllable spills or releases of HW and assist with the preparation of waste-related reports

  • Provide customer service, including service calls, scheduling appointments and, loading and unloading waste

  • May operate hand and power equipment, including forklift and mower

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience processing wastes and associated handling activities

  • Must have thorough knowledge of safety procedures for proper waste handling, collection, sampling, accumulation, and preparation for transportation

  • Capable of wearing a half-face or full-face respirator, as per the Medical Surveillance program

  • Must have received initial 40 hour HAZWOPER and annual 8-hour refresher training if applicable in accordance with DOD 4500.9-R

  • Must have at least two years of experience certifying hazardous waste documents

  • Must have training in accordance with 40 CFR 262.34(a)(4) and 40 CFR 265.16

  • Must have completed training in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.120 HazWoper Standard

  • Capable of safely operating material handling equipment (forklift, other commercial vehicles)

  • Capable of lifting 50 pounds without material handling equipment

  • Strong ethic and professional demeanor

  • Must have good oral communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a Secret Security Clearance

  • Must have valid driver's license
