As the Area Manager for Waikato and Bay of Plenty you will be the local lead and the Regional face of AECOM to the market. This role reports directly to the Regional Managing Director and sits on the national Senior Leadership Team, contributing to the leadership and decision making across the country. This role will see you develop, implement and lead the local growth strategy as you build on your existing knowledge of the infrastructure, engineering, buildings, environmental and industrial markets and leverage the established relationships you have across the region. Working closely with your Business Line Leaders you will support local must win pursuits as you identify key future growth areas in the region. Being well connected, a strong people leader with sound commercial acumen will set you up for success in this role. A key focus of the role is maintaining and developing a strong high performance culture across the teams with the Waikato and Bay of Plenty that supports individuals to excel in their chosen field. The role also creates a platform of national strategic opportunities and to work with the wider business internationally.
This role will suit an individual who is well respected in their line of work and has a successful track record as a leader with a strong technical background. Excess of 15 years’ worth of experience with strong client relationships preferably with the public and private sector will set you up for success. A key skill will be the ability to develop and maintain relationships in the market and to raise the profile of the Business though engaging with the local market on multiple fronts.
You will work closely with the Regional Managing Director, Group Directors, Operations’ Director and other senior professionals to promote the full AECOM offering. Partnering with Business Line Leaders the Area Manager will lead and support local pursuits and support wider initiatives. You will develop new project opportunities across all business lines to ensure sustainable growth and increase profit share in the region.
Innovation is a key focus within the AECOM business, working closely with clients you will identify and develop new service offerings while remaining sensitive to the local market. As the face of AECOM in the local market you will benefit from leveraging your existing relationships to influence key stakeholders and drive the regional growth strategy. Your deep understanding of clients’ needs and expectations will ensure that we develop winning bids and proposals. Driving a culture of delivering excellence will assist you in building credibility with clients and our teams to support future growth.

Qualifications & Experience
Appropriate technical qualification & competency.
15 years relevant experience.
Successful track record in field of expertise and substantial project experience
Leadership skills including technical leadership, human relations, team building, innovation and motivation skills.
Experience in successfully leading multi disciplinary teams.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
The ability to be an attentive and active listener who commands attention and can manage group process during presentations.
The ability to communicate at all levels.
Demonstrated time management and organisational skills.
Demonstrated commercial acumen, and the ability to develop a strong client base.
Proven results in building team’s level of expertise.
Solid business development skills and the ability to build strong client relationships.
Demonstrated experience in managing complex projects and meeting delivery requirements.
Market knowledge of consulting engineering in assigned market sectors & region.
Able to use all Microsoft Office packages.
Knowledge of the market for consulting services.
