Job Summary

The Environmental Services Group of AECOM Atlantic Canada is actively seeking a Project Manager for immediate employment in the Halifax, NS office. The appropriately qualified applicant will support projects within the Environment business line with the primary responsibility to manage the execution of fixed price performance based remediation projects across Atlantic Canada.

The work requires technical knowledge of the areas of hydrogeology, soil sciences, remediation techniques, provincial contaminated sites regulations and human health/ecological risk assessments. The successful applicant will have strong project management skills including financial project controls, scheduling, budget development, human and material resource planning, change management identification and control and client/stakeholder relationship development. The successful applicant will report to the Halifax Office Manager and for the remediation project work, will work closely with the Atlantic Geography Project Lead and will be a key member in a Global Program Team.

Other responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Support in identifying new business opportunities

  • General support and direction to more junior-level employees on routine assignments

  • Technical peer review for data validation reports and other routine tasks and deliverables

  • Support marketing initiatives;

  • Support in maintaining a safe work environment and a culture of safety

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science or Engineering Degree

  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience with strengths in Phased Environmental Site Assessments and remediation

  • Contaminated sites management

  • Demonstrated experience planning and executing remedial work

  • Contract development and contractor management

  • Negotiations with regulators

  • Demonstrated project management and client development experience in the environmental business line

  • Experience in marketing, proposal development and business development in pursuit of new projects and clients

  • Effective time management

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Ability to manage competing deadlines and project budgets

  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, write clearly, and resolve problems

  • Ability to be proactive, confident and self-motivated

  • Comfortable working in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree considered an asset

  • Experience with working on projects for major oil and gas clients

  • Experience with Regulatory Applications & Documentation

  • Experience with Site Inspections, Regulatory and Environmental Compliance, Geological and Hydrogeological Evaluation, Conceptual Site Model development and validation and Risk Assessment

  • Great autonomy, initiative, ease of communication within a large program team

  • Results oriented
