Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a mid to senior level Health Physicist. The position will be based out of Greenville, SC. Relocation is preferred.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Health Physicist will assist the Radiological Services Group Manager with technical oversight of commercial and non-Department of Energy federal projects. Responsibilities will include preparing project documents such as decommissioning plans, field sampling plans, site survey plans, and radiation protection plans. These documents will be prepared in accordance with standard guidance documents such as the Multi-Agency Radiological Site Survey and Investigation Manual (MARSSIM), the Multi-Agency Radiation Survey and Assessment of Material and Equipment (MARSAME) Manual, Consolidated Decommissioning Guidance (NUREG-1757), and Surface and Volume Radioactivity Standards for Clearance (ANSI/HPS N13.12-2013). The position will also require project reporting to inform clients of the progress of project work using standard reporting formats.

The Senior Health Physicist should have experience in estimating the decommissioning and remediation project costs. This would include a knowledge of naturally occurring radioactive materials (NORM), technically enhanced NORM (TENORM), and low-level radioactive waste (LLRW) transportation and disposal options and regulatory requirements.

The position will require occasional travel and field oversight of remediation, decommissioning, or verification projects within all areas of the US and potentially outside the US. The candidate should be qualified to fill the roles of Site Radiation Safety Officer, Contractor Quality Control Officer, Radiological Engineer, or Project Health Physicist. Field oversight duties would include implementation of field work plans and daily reporting to the project manager and the client.

Additionally, the Senior Health Physicist may be asked to support inspections and audits of radiation safety and radioactive materials management programs as well as other consulting and license support activities. Such activities may include the preparation of radioactive materials license application documents, radiation safety program documents, radiation safety procedures, and radioactive material management procedures.

The position has opportunities for project management following applicable in-house project manager training on financial systems.

Minimum Requirements

  • BS in Health Physics or Nuclear Engineering from an accredited college or university.

  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship required.

  • Ability to pass an FBI criminal background check.

  • Good communication skills. Ability to express ideas concisely and clearly, both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to travel. Perhaps for assignments of a week or more.

  • 10+ Years' of relative experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Health Physicist (CHP) or registration with the National Registry or Radiation Protection Technologists (NRRPT)

  • Professional Engineering (PE) License (Environmental)

  • Working knowledge of modeling programs such as RESRAD and Microshield.
