Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Windows Administrator in Washington DC. The selected candidate will support an environment of 150 plus servers.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

Server systems engineering and administration

Hardware and software trouble shooting

Windows programming and/or scripting

Capacity analysis and troubleshooting

Installation, configuration, and maintenance of Windows servers, networks and clusters.

Data backup/recovery design and implementation for both physical virtual environment

Perform system security hardening to comply with Federal security mandates

Support .NET and Java Applications (IIS, Tomcat, etc.)

Other tasks as assigned may include but are not limited to:

Common administrative tasks on the DCs, such as user account, group, password, & permissions management; Organizational Unit (OU) management, etc.

Monitor all Active Directory systems and DCs at all site locations.

Monitoring shall include reviewing all Event Logs at scheduled intervals and verifying the availability, performance, and health of various system components and services.

Furnish the Senior Windows Administrator with daily written summary reports of AD/DC Event Log status. The status reports shall include a general assessment of AD/DC system condition and any negative events or findings.

Install Technical Bulletins, patches, upgrades, etc., on AD systems.

Perform security hardening of domain systems according to the appropriate STIGs.

Create, maintain, and utilize SOPs for Active Directory and directory services administration.

Fully document and maintain documentation for Active Directory and directory services architecture.

Perform offline defragmentation of Active Directory (ntds.dit file)

Manage the following:

  • FSMO roles

  • Global Catalogs

  • DNS (internal)

  • Organizational Units

  • AD Sites and Subnets

  • Group Policy Objects

  • Access Control Lists

  • Domain Controller Replication

  • Domain Controller and AD Relocations

  • System backup/recovery operations

  • DHCP

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years minimum experience or equivalent.·

  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) certification in Windows 2008/2012 preferred

  • Minimum of 5 years of server systems engineering and administration experience

  • Hands on hardware and software trouble shooting skills.

  • Demonstrated technical and quantitative, analytical and conceptual thinking skills.

  • Windows programming and/or scripting skills.

  • Experience with server management in a similarly sized systems environment (150+ servers)

  • Experience utilizing an enterprise monitoring solution for capacity analysis and troubleshooting.

  • Installation, configuration, and maintenance of Windows servers, networks and clusters.

  • Demonstrated experience with best practices for Windows Server 2008 and 2012 install, support and configuration.

  • Demonstrated experience in Microsoft technologies such as

  • Active Directory, SQL, Exchange, and file/print services.

  • Knowledge of Windows OS (2008 – 2012R2),

  • Knowledge of with TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS protocols, firewall, load-balancing technologies and firewalls

  • · Demonstrated experience working with load balancing technologies and large-scale server farms.

  • · Strong knowledge of using scripts to automate and schedule routine administration tasks.

  • · Demonstrated experience with implementing Group Policy to secure and configure systems, automate tasks and package deployment within the Windows environment

  • Demonstrated experience in data backup/recovery design and implementation for both physical virtual environment

  • Demonstrated experience using Windows Deployment Services (WDS) and System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) for OS deployment, patch management, software distribution, and HW/SW inventory

  • Experience provisioning of high availability, security and integrity of physical and virtualized platforms.

  • Demonstrated experience performing system security hardening to comply with Federal security mandates.

  • Demonstrated experience installing, upgrading and configuring applications within a Microsoft Server IIS environment

  • Demonstrated experience supporting .NET and Java Applications (IIS, Tomcat, etc.)

US Citizenship required; must be able to obtain Position of Public Trust clearance.
