Job Summary

The GeoEnvironmental and Remediation Services group is actively seeking a skilled Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator/Superintendent for Spring 2017 employment in the Germantown, Maryland office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career as an operations and maintenance technician specific to waste water treatment and environmental remediation systems. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects in the DC Metro area spanning the Baltimore-Northern Virginia region. The incumbent can look forward to projects including systems operations and maintenance, environmental monitoring and sampling, and site inspections supporting a variety of clients in mass transit, petrochemical, and local/state/federal government sectors.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Optimizes the operation and performance of wastewater treatment systems

  • Performs routine repairs, maintenance and operational activities on a variety of systems and machinery

  • Installs and repairs components for machinery or equipment

  • Identifies and reports recurring problems, system errors or issues

  • Records documentation and maintenance and installation data to be used in the preparation of scientific or engineering reports

  • Recommends capital improvements to enhance system performance

  • Follows formal compliance policies related to safety and quality assurance

  • Participates in health and safety performance improvement efforts

  • Interacts with on-site clients

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 5+ years experience in maintenance, equipment operation, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, electronics or related machinery field

  • Industrial Wastewater Treatment Operator Certificate

  • Industrial Wastewater Treatment Superintendent Certificate or ability to obtain; or related training at technical school; or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities and experience

  • Proven mechanical ability

  • Understanding of the equipment and technology used to perform maintenance, installation and repairs

  • Ability to perform basic computations and calculations

  • Basic knowledge of common spreadsheet and word processing software

  • Basic knowledge of power tools, hand tools and heavy equipment operation

  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of 40-hr HAZWOPER course

  • Completion of OSHA 30-hr Construction Safety course

  • Industrial Wastewater Treatment Superintendent Certificate, Maryland
