About the Business Line


We create comprehensive delivery solutions for water, wastewater and wet weather systems, desalination, water resources, water reuse, tunneling, and community infrastructure through traditional and alternative delivery services such as program management and design-build.

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Structural Engineer for immediate employment in the Germantown office. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. The incumbent can look forward to projects including design of new dams and hydraulic structures, and rehabilitation of existing dams and hydraulic structures, as well as support for structural aspects of site design (retaining walls, drainage structures, etc.)

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Working with group and project managers, contributing to the establishment of team goals, working successfully with other structural engineers throughout the dams engineering practice

  • Work under the supervision of the Structural Team Leader, and in close coordination with other structural engineers and technical engineering teams

  • Provide structural engineering support for an operating group that focuses on water related structural projects; such as dams, hydropower and other water retaining structures

  • Technical areas of experience include the design and analysis of spillways, outlet towers and conduits, hydraulic structures, retaining walls and utility structures and preparation of structural drawings, reports and specifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) with a Structural Engineering focus

  • 2+ years of structural engineering experience

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license

  • Ability to work with other engineering disciplines at various locations, both internal and external to AECOM is a must

  • Effective written and verbal communication is an important part of the job

  • US Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Civil Engineering (or related field)

  • ​Experience in Dams, Hydraulic Structures, or Site Engineering
