Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.

Job Summary

The Environmental Division of AECOM is seeking a Environmental Scientist for immediate employment with the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Management Department in the Germantown, MD office. The Germantown EHS Management Department provides environmental compliance services to federal, municipal, and private-sector clients, nationwide. In this position, you will use your environmental regulatory and due diligence/subsurface investigation knowledge to help our clients navigate their environmental compliance challenges.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Acting independently on technical matters pertaining to environmental regulatory compliance, due diligence, and subsurface investigations

  • Preparing or overseeing the preparation of technical reports, plans, and permitting documents

  • Interacting with local regulatory agencies and clients

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or relevant environmental discipline

  • 4+ years of environmental consulting experience

  • Experience in multi-media environmental regulatory compliance (e.g., CWA, RCRA, CERCLA, OPA, etc.) and its application

  • Field experience in groundwater and soil sampling; proficient enough to self-manage in the field as well as manage a small field team

  • Technical experience related to Due Diligence, Phase I and II site investigations

  • Demonstrated task management skills

  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills; extremely proficient in technical writing; highly effective organization and multi-tasking skills

  • Ability to prioritize multiple demands, think strategically and successfully lead multiple simultaneous projects

  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, judgment and problem-solving capabilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Willingness and availability to travel domestically
