About the Business Line
AECOM’s Global Support Services (GSS) organization resides within AECOM’s Government business line and is comprised of three divisions — International Development, Operations and Mission Support, and Global Programs. AECOM has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Aircraft Mechanic II (Machinist ) for a position in Ft. Campbell, KY.Machinist is responsible for the proper care and use of machine, material and equipment, as well as following instructions. The design and automatic features of these machines permit the operation of more than one machine or subsequent operations. Must know shop mathematics, the characteristics of various metals and be able to secure certain information from prints as required. Checks proper sizes, fits, and finishes as required and record results. Machinist is responsible for the orderliness of working areas and the following of approved shop procedures. All calibrated measuring tools are furnished. Must set up, locate, or manufacture fixtures and work-holding devices, load and unload work fixtures and devices. Employee may be required to adjust cutting tools as required to maintain dimensions due to tool wear and reground tools. Employee will assemble tools and fixtures as needed. Machinist also performs precision boring of complicated fabricated machine tool parts, jigs, dies and fixtures, used in production and tooling for manufacturing and assembly. This work must be very accurate with very little or no tolerance allowed generally +0.0000 to -0.0005. Machinist should require a minimum of supervision. Must be able to make set-ups and grind tools. Machinist must use proper feeds, speeds, coolant, or lubricant for the appropriate machining operation.
High school graduate or equivalent is desirable.
Military Experience is a plus.
5 years Aviation experience required.
Must have experience in Computer Numerical Controls (CNC) Mills and lathes programming, set up, operating, and maintaining.
Must also have experience with conventional machines: lathes, mills, honing machines and surface grinders.
Must have experience with Omax water jet programming, set up, operating, and maintenance.
Must be familiar with Fagor, Haas, Okuma, and Funuc controllers.
Must be proficient with drawing on Master Cam and Bob Cad programming.
Must be able to read blueprints, spec, tech manuals, DMWRs, and be able to reverse engineer parts that have no drawings.
Must be proficient with heat treating all types of metals.
Candidates must be able to move parts anywhere within work area, as required.
Machinist must also do general maintenance to equipment, and cleanup to maintain the work area in an orderly condition.
