AECOM is seeking a mid level Technical Writer to provide acquisition and sustainment support to Marine Corps Systems Command Program Manager Medium and Heavy Tactical Vehicles.
Responsibilities may include:
Interface with technical professionals in the writing, editing and publication of various types of documents
Develop writing plans and outlines
Assist in the development of supporting materials (illustrations, tables)
Assists in collecting and organizing information for preparation of technical manuals, electronic technical manuals, training
materials, installation guides, instructions, and reports.
Develops/edits logistics documents (e.g.,Technical Manuals, Training documents, Supply Instructions, and Modification Instructions); ensures all logistics support documentation is prepared in accordance with current Marine Corps, Navy, and DOD templates, directives and policies.
Maintains and updates the documents (Technical Manuals, Supply Instructions, Modification Instructions.)
Maintains a current internal documentation library.
Gathers, analyzes, and composes technical information.
Conducts research and ensures the use of proper technical terminology.
Translates technical information into clear, readable documents to be used by technical and non-technical personnel.
Edit and provide quality assurance for customer deliverables and documents.
Performs all other duties/tasks assigned.
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent and 9 years of progressive related experience. Additional related experience may be substituted for education.
Prior experience writing technical documentation.
Must be able to conceptualize, format, structure, write, edit and finalize technical manuals, orders, and other documents.
Knowledge of applicable standards.
Position may require travel.
Must be able to obtain/maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
Excellent writing and communication skills and strong verbal and interpersonal skills as daily interaction with government customers are required.
Understanding of military systems, logistics products and processes and related documentation.
Self-starter who can work well independently with minimal supervision and broad direction.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Experience with Marine Corps and/or tactical vehicles.
Experience with USN or USMC Technical Manuals, Electronic Technical Manuals and Type I Instructions.
