About the Business Line
AECOM’s Global Support Services (GSS) organization resides within AECOM’s Government business line and is comprised of three divisions — International Development, Operations and Mission Support, and Global Programs. GSS has the international presence, personnel networks and procurement infrastructure to deliver support for any mission, anywhere. We optimize the reliability, availability and sustainability of equipment, logistics systems and facilities for clients around the world. AECOM has an immediate opening for aHeavy Equipment Mechanicw/CDL at Ft. Polk, LA .
Inspects machines andequipmentto diagnose defects, dismantles and reassemblesequipmentandheavy equipment.
This worker operates and inspects machines orequipmentto diagnose defects, dismantles and reassemblesequipment, using hoists and hand tools, examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges, replaces defective engines and sub-assemblies, such as transmissions, and tests overhauledequipmentto insure operating efficiency.
Themechanicwelds broken parts and structural members, may direct workers engaged in cleaning parts and assisting with assembly and disassembly ofequipment,and may repair, adjust and maintain mining machinery, such as stripping and loading shovels, drilling and cutting machines, and continuous mining machines.
High school diploma/GED and must have at least 5 years actual and recent experience in repairing and maintainingheavy equipmentto include 3 years actual and recent related experience in the field consistent with the requirements set forth in the contract.
Candidates must be able to obtain a Class "A" Commercial Drivers License (CDL) within 90 days of employment.
Knowledge and proper use of special tools /equipmentrequired to perform assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory.
Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and / or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks.
May be required to pass and maintain a U.S. Government background security check.
