AECOM’s Global Support Services (GSS) organization resides within AECOM’s Government business line and is comprised of three divisions — International Development, Operations and Mission Support, and Global Programs. Job Summary

AECOM has immediate openings for Automotive Workers at Fort Polk, La.

Under the direction of a mechanic will perform a variety of minor repairs and services to maintain motor vehicles. Places and maintains decals on vehicles. Checks and replaces batteries. Rotates, repairs, and replaces tires. Washes, polishes, and cleans interiors and exteriors of vehicles. Drains, flushes, and replaces engine, transmission, and differential grease and oils.

Checks, cleans, calibrates, and replaces spark plugs. Cleans and replaces oil and air filters. Adjusts brakes, replaces windshield wipers, and similar minor parts. Assists on major overhaul jobs by disassembling and cleaning parts, repairing components such as generators and water pumps, and replacing thermostats, points, electrical wiring and other items. Maintains tools and equipment, and cleans work areas.

Perform the following activities under limited indirect supervision in accordance with established procedures:

  1. May remove and replace major and minor mechanical components.

  2. May perform preventative or routine vehicle maintenance such as oil change, radiator service, transmission service, air filter service, chassis lubrication.

  3. May provide assistance to mechanics in the overhaul of major components.

  4. May remove, repair, and replace tires mounted on rims.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Works inside and outside. Frequently exposed to drafts, changing temperatures, noise, heat, dust, fumes, oil and grease. Frequently exposed to the possibility of receiving cuts, burns, bruises and sprains. Required to push, pull, turn and position parts and tools. Lifts and moves heavier items with the assistance of otherworkersand with lifting devices such as jacks, hoists and cranes. Performs strenuous work while standing or sitting. Frequently carries items weighing in excess of 44 pounds. Constant lifting, bending, stooping, carrying and reaching while standing and/or sitting. Will be exposed to various weather conditions.

Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements

  • Requires a minimum of three (3) years of full time verifiable job-related experience in anautomotive, diesel, or agricultural equipment service setting.

  • High school diploma or equivalency required. Valid state issued drivers license.

  • Must be available to work any shift.

  • Knowledge in the use and selection of a wide variety of hand and power tools common to theautomotive trade.

  • This position requires a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
