Position Title Optical Transport Network Engineer (Telecommunication)

Demonstrate technical skills in telecommunication networks with focus in the fiber optic communications transport technologies and its applications.
Works directly with customer management in applying advanced principles, theories and concepts to a wide range of work in the areas of planning, deployment, operation and/or enhancement of advanced telecommunications and information technology systems networks.
Works on complex problems and provides solutions that are innovative and often involve re-evaluation of established theories and practices, leading to new and creative solutions to problems.
Defines network architecture alternative for interfacing transmission, switching, bandwidth management and network operations equipment and functions.
Develops new means of achieving provisioning and billing process/system requirements. Resolves technical and procedural issues raised by government and DISN contractors, as related to best industry practices.
Provides practical guidance on deployment planning for new network/service rollouts and for transition from existing networks.
Develops alternative technical solutions in situations where customer has conflicting advice.
Position may require travel.
Bachelor degree in an Engineering field or Computer Science plus minimum of five (5) years of experience performing similar duties described above OR ten (10) years of experience in the Telecommunications and/or IT systems networking engineering field with no degree.
Good oral and written communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required.
Position requires an Active Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance from Day One.
