Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Planner to be based in our Fort McMurray, Alberta location.

This position will work as the Supervisor and Facilitator of the Front End Planning Team being responsible for organizing the Projects “Work Scope” into “Manageable, Measurable, Progress-able and Safe Work Packages.”

Responsibilities may include:

  • Assess “Constructability” and “Boundary” input during the Engineering Work Package defining stage.

  • Submit “Request For Information” (RFI’s) as required for unclear scope.

  • Submit Trend Alerts as required for additional scope.

  • Provide Constructability analysis on any suggested changes. ( i.e. Safety Health Environment or Risk, Cost, Productivity, and/or Schedule)

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the scope of the EWPs (Engineering Work Packages).

  • Determine Craft requirements for Front End Planning.

  • Develop a strong understanding of the Clients Engineering Specifications.

  • Sign off Readiness Checklist for each Work Package.

  • Work with the Planning Team to Determine Craft Manpower requirements.

  • Liaison between the Front End Planning team and the Client.

  • Liaison between the Front End Planning team and the Field or Facility “Execution” Planning team (s).

  • Liaison with the facility on deliverables and with the site for planning priorities.

  • Liaison with functional support, help determine these requirements with the PM.

  • Manage the Front End Planning team to the WFP (Workface Planning) Process.

  • Coach and Mentor the Front End Planning Team to the process.

  • Periodic Site visits to help coach and mentor the Dynamic Planning team to the process.

  • Elevate the Readiness checklist to the Senior PM or Senior CM if the package is not ready to go to site, and the site is starting to execute the scope prematurely.

  • Ensure the Work Package mapping / tracking log is available on FDMS and kept up to date as per the planning progress.

  • Ensure Score Card is completed as per the attests and posted.

  • Save Score Card on company Document Management System (FDMS) under functional area (Construction Operations/Construction Planning).

A rotational travel allowance is available for this position.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • PMI (Project Management Institute) and AACE (Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering), CET (Civil Engineering Technician) Certification, PMI training, Cost Engineering (American Association of Cost Engineering), Cost Estimating and Scheduling, Training and Design or Field Experience.

  • Journeyman Certification in related Construction Trade.

  • 15+ years of industrial construction experience, 5+ of these years in planning.

  • Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) Certification required

  • H2S Alive Certification required.

  • First Aid - Standard Level Certification required.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Appropriate computer skills, which includes: Microsoft Office Suite - Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook.

  • A good understanding of Scheduling Software Reports.

  • Excellent working knowledge of all the construction disciplines.

  • Valid Driver's License.
