About the Business Line
We deliver creative solutions for building projects for industry, government, commercial and leisure sectors. Our building engineering specialists have expertise in structural and building services engineering, fire engineering, acoustics, facades and seismic design. We embed sustainability principles in every design.
Our Edinburgh Building Engineering business unit continues to grow to service the region Commercial Property & Infrastructure sectors, where it has successfully secured positionswith many high profile clients and some of the largest projects and programs in the region.
This role involves responsibility at a project level and includes managing multi-disciplinary project teams in the delivery of discrete projects and Advisory Tasks, reporting, programme management and contract administration.
As Project Manager you will work with a Project Director to successfully manage thedelivery of capitalprojects.
The role will cover the entire project lifecycle from initial inception through the design and procurement process through delivery and onto the commissioning phase
You will possess the skills and experience to lead and manage a team on technically complex projects and for developing collaborative relationships with our clients and other team members
Successful delivery of multiple projects with minimum supervision leading to happy clients and repeat business.
Managing internal and external teams including appointing sub consultants
Leading multidisciplinary teams in matrix organisations to meet client outcomes.
Ability to work within a partnering environment, form effective working relationships and make a positive outcome to the investment programme
Preparation of monthly PM reports
Preparation of Risk Registers
Developing new opportunities
Management and Contract Administration (NEC3) of a portfolio of projects.
Commercially and contractually aware.
A good understanding of the characteristics of projects, over the project life cycle.
Good working knowledge of all of the main project management concepts, tools and techniques.
Solid knowledge of the construction industries technical matters, the different procurement routes, infrastructure construction processes and technologies.
Good understanding of project performance metrics including Earned Value Management.
Identifying new opportunities and support in the development of bids/tenders.
Manage, lead, support and develop a team.
Commitment to a high level of ESH performances at the workplace and in the local environment.
Able to work as part of a team on large complex projects and to deliver the project goals from brief, through procurement and construction to project handover stage
Strong experience of delivering technically complex projects
Experienced in a Client management role – Able to manage the account in terms of projects that are ‘live’, plus seeking new opportunities
Experienced and confident at leading internal and external teams, plus Stakeholder Management
Commercially aware, in terms of understanding the key components of Cost and Change Management processes
Experienced at programming the various stages of a project, along with monitoring and reporting
Good Understanding of contracts,
Previous experience of managing internal resources, including the training and mentoring of senior staff members
Good networking skills
Able to seek out and prepare proposals for new opportunities
Academic Qualifications - ideallyMSc or MEng Civil Engineering / Structural Engineering, Project management qualification (either academic, professional or both) preferred.
Chartered Status with the RICS, CIOB, RIBA, ICE, and APM or other equivalent institution membership
At least 3 years experience in the Project Management of multiple multi-discipline engineering design and construction projects (>£5m Capital Expenditure).
Holder of a current CSCS card
