Job Summary


To provide support to the Scotland Rail Civils­Manager and­manage a­team of engineers and technicians in delivering our diverse and varied multi-disciplinary project opportunities such as the Highlands Enhancement Programme, Carstairs Junction Remodelling, Network Rail Renewals Portfolios, HS2, Crossrail and other diverse programmes of work being delivered by Aaecom.


This post reports to the Rail Civils Manager. The post is located in our Edinburgh City Centre­office, although the post holder will be expected to undertake site visits and may be expected to work in other locations within the U.K. for short periods if necessary.


Operational ­

  • Undertake site visits & surveys as necessary

  • Co-ordinate the preparation of drawings & design

  • Manage/deliver the engineering on a diverse and exciting range of projects

  • Work flexibly and effectively both as an individual and as part of a team

  • Produce design reports­


  • Contribute to the development of continuous improvement

  • Display awareness of the Company Business Plan

  • Develop and maintain client relationships

  • Formulate/plan work programmes­


  • Manage time and resources effectively

  • Manage performance and team development

  • Contribute effectively to planning and budget cycles

  • Manage a­team of engineers and technicians, including development and planning and growth


Minimum Requirements

  • Must be willing to undertake additional duties as requested by immediate manager

  • Must be prepared to comply with D&A Policy

  • Must be prepared to undertake railway medical and PTS course

  • Must be prepared to work at other UK sites, sometimes at short notice

Preferred Qualifications




Degree/Masters in Civil Engineering

Chartered Engineer and/or member of relevant Professional Institution (Preferred)



  • Minimum of 5-10 years in a similar role

  • Railway engineering experience (Preferable though not essential)
