Job Summary

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced MEP Quantity Surveyor to join AECOM in Dubai.

The MEP Project Quantity Surveyor reports to the MEP Associate Director and is responsible for all MEP quantity surveying activities with regards to the tasks allocated to him.

In addition the MEP PQS will be expected to aid and support others within the MEP team.

The role location will primarily be based on the Dubai Head office but will require travel to client and/or site office throughout the UAE as necessary.

The MEP Quantity Surveyor’s duties shall include, but not be limited to :

  • Pre-Contract 1. Assist with all aspects of MEP pre-contract services through concept, schematic and detailed design phases inclusive of measurement, cost planning and production of BoQ’s for construction projects.2. Assist with preparation of tender and contract documents.3. Assisting in and contributing to value engineering and viability studies

  • Post Contract 4. Assist in assessing, evaluating and making recommendations related to any financial claim and providing the necessary input with regards to settling such claims.5. Assist in evaluation all change management including variations, additional works, field changes, additions and omissions, and incorporation of the same within the monthly cost reports.6. Preparing and pricing Change Orders and negotiating agreement with the client and contractor as necessary.7. Conducting viability studies and cost estimates.8. Provide assistance to the team during negotiations, arbitration, or any other forms of dispute resolution.

Minimum Requirements

  • Ability to estimate Mechanical Systems from Concept Design m2 rates through to BoQ pricing

  • 5-10 years’ experience is required, Middle East experience is essential.

  • Excellent level of literacy skills in English

  • Working knowledge of industry practices

  • Excellent understanding of MEP quantity surveying practices in particular pre-contract services

  • Good understanding of methods of measurement and measurement/billing softwares

  • Computer literate with excellent communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a small team.

  • Flexibility in approach and attitude: the MEP Team works on a variety of projects, across a wide range of sectors with high profile clients and staff are expected to be adaptable to many demands, roles and responsibilities.
