Job Summary

AECOM are currently recruiting for a Cost Manager to be based on a 28 days on, 26 days off rotational basis in Iraq.

The purpose of this role is to support the Client and AECOM Commercial Managers in-country (Iraq) reviewing contractors cost reports, checking material requisitions and general reporting on progress.The Cost Manager will report directly to the Client and the existing AECOM Commercial Managers on site, and will assist with the commercial management of various on-going operational services contracts.

Key responsibilities:

  • Preparing monthly cost reports and interim valuations

  • Prepares formal take-off estimates with documentation of estimate logic and methods

  • Assesses and values progress payments

  • Reviews and compares scopes of work, production rates, and cost data

  • Preparation of earned value reports.

  • Prepares, reviews, and updates cash-flows.

  • Estimates variation orders for Subcontractors/GC Contractors.

  • Reviews and evaluates payment certificates for Subcontractors/GC Contractor.

  • Preparation of RFP documentation if required.

  • Participates and evaluates value engineering solutions.

  • Evaluates and negotiates final accounts settlements.

Minimum Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience, preferably in Oil & Gas industry, or large scale construction projects.

  • Communication and formal English language skills are considered essential as the candidate will be required to present on a regular basis to senior client personnel.

  • Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of cost management.

  • Knowledge of the principles of management, organization and administration.

  • Knowledge of computer software utilized in producing reports.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with Clients and other project team members

  • Excellent team working skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent time management and prioritization and able to manage pressure and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level in Quantity Surveying or equivalent

  • Qualified as AAIQS/AFFIL, MRICS or equivalent
