AECOM has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Director to join our rail team in Dubai working on a key rail projects.
As a Rail Expert with the world's #1 ranked engineering design firm, you will be exposed to a range of projects and stakeholders providing you with an opportunity to apply your experience on major to mega rail projects. You will work efficiently in an autonomous environment as well as contributing as part of the wider Civil and Infrastructure and AECOM team.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Establishes the Project Execution Plan, Health & Safety Plan, Control Plan and other documents.
Establishes the program requirements for all areas of the project, and monitors the draft and final deliverables for adherence to these criteria.
Establishes weekly meeting to review project status and formulate actions items.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this positions as may be appropriate.
Ensure compliance with the company’s Quality Assurance policies and procedures
Assist the Manager in identification and pursuit of business development opportunities.
Prepare proposals and qualification documents in the interest of obtaining new assignments.
Assist the Manager in recruiting staff members.
Provide such further assistance to senior management as may be required from time to time.
Prepare Task Authorizations for professional services including but not limited to defining in writing complete scopes of work, reviewing budgets and fee proposals, negotiating fee proposals and billing rates for all consultants in collaboration with Authority staff
Address Operations and Maintenance issues in the design, including issues that may interfere with operations or maintainability of facilities and utilities
Lead design quality focusing on the quality of deliverables as appropriate in accordance with industry standards for level of completion expected for each milestone deliverable
Collaborate on Value Engineering designed to ensure the Contract Drawings fulfill program requirements for performance, quality, aesthetics, and budget at a reasonable life cycle cost
Prepare review comments including: list all questions requiring clarification; identify omitted work; communicate general deficiencies (such as logic, legibility, clarity, coordinate and state of completeness); and substantiation that the design satisfies Airport Authority requirements gathered through the stakeholder process
Review design documents for compliance with authorities’ requirements, guidelines and standards
Ensure that design progress meets the overall project schedule requirements, including overseeing design consultant’s deliverable tasks and working closely with project manager and contractors to ensure RFIs, submittals, and concerns are addressed in a timely manner
Contribute to the advancement of through commitment to productive collaboration with all stakeholders
Monitors and reports to management on the progress of all projects activities within the program, including significant milestones, and any conditions, which would affect project cost or schedules.
Applicants would ideally have a minimum of 20 years of experience within similar large scale projects that include overall Project Management experience
Good working knowledge of Internationally-accepted Project Management, construction industry principle and practices / safety / quality management systems.
Understanding of Construction Law. Seeks advice as appropriate.
Good knowledge of design processes and systems.
Good knowledge of current construction technology.
High level of critical thinking, problem solving, numeracy and English literacy skills.
Good negotiation skills.
Ability to work in a matrix organisation.
Clear verbal communication skills.
Uses diplomacy and tact in discussions with other parties. Contributes to team building and enhancing morale across the team / project.
High level of computer literacy
Must be pro-active, adaptable and a motivated team player.
Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Strong interpersonal skills
BSc, BEng or MEng degree in a relevant discipline
Specific Project Management training & qualification and Membership of a Chartered Institution preferred MICE/ MCIOB/ MRICS or working towards
