Job Summary

AECOM seeks a highly qualified Works Inspector to assist the Senior Works Inspector in undertaking various inspections for the purposes of monitoring the Contractor’s performance of the works in accordance with the requirements of the Contract. Inspections are to be carried out on a daily basis and the particulars/outcome of the inspection are to be recorded and documented.

The main responsibility is to make sure that work is carried out to the client's standards, specification and schedule. The Works Inspector under the direction of the Senior Works Inspector ensures that the correct materials and workmanship are used and that the Project Works Authority is given quality work and value for money. Works Inspectors are on site all the time and make regular inspections. They need to be vigilant in their inspections of a large range of technical aspects of the work. This involves:

  • Becoming familiar with all the relevant drawings and written instructions, checking them, and use them as a reference when inspecting the work;

  • Monitoring all work relative to their portion and area of responsibility of the project to ensure the work is carried out to the client's standards and compliance with the specification, correct materials, workmanship, and schedule;

  • Making visual inspections;

  • Taking measurements and samples on site to make sure that the work and the materials meet the specifications and quality standards;

  • Reviewing and monitoring additional works and variations to the contract, recording the utilisation of plant, labour and materials;

  • Liaising with the QA/QC Engineer and Safety Engineer to flag and rectify any issues which may affect the quality and safety of the works;

  • Liaising with the other Works Inspectors of the various disciplines to flag and rectify any issues which may affect the quality of Works and to provide support and guidance as required;

  • Advising the Senior Works inspector about certain aspects of the work,particularly when something has gone wrong.

  • Familiarity with legal requirements and checking that the work complies with them;

  • Have a working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and bring any shortfalls observed to the attention of the person(s) concerned;

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years experience since obtaining maximum educational qualification.

  • Minimum 10 years experience in similar project specific role of which are in a supervisory and construction management role in infrastructure and roads projects. Familiar with requirements of Project Works Authority in Qatar.

  • Minimum 5 years experience since obtaining minimum educational qualification and minimum 3 years similar experience.

  • Experience within the Middle East region required\

  • Experience working on pumping stations and infrastructure projects

  • Possess a valid driver’s licence.
