We create comprehensive delivery solutions for water, wastewater and wet weather systems, desalination, water resources, water reuse, tunneling, and community infrastructure through traditional and alternative delivery services such as program management and design-build.

Job Summary

AECOM are seeking a Senior Water Engineer to be based in our head office in Doha, Qatar. This role will involve coordination of and carrying out design calculations and preparations of design drawings, reports and other relevant information on water and wastewater related infrastructure projects. In particular, the candidate must have experience in water network / transmission pipelines, and Infoworks WS modelling.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare concept, preliminary and detailed design works, design reports and associated documents

  • Manage and guide junior staff

  • Provide technical support to other project teams as necessary.

  • Assist in the preparation of bids

  • Develop time and cost schedules for projects

  • Deliver projects on time and within budget. Work within financial and programme constraints. Consider financial implications in producing design options.

  • Ensure design is fully coordinated and that internal Design Teams are kept fully informed of all relevant technical and other information.

  • Ensure that all calculations and drawings have been properly checked and signed off by a Senior Engineer in accordance with QA/QC procedures, relevant Standards and Codes of Practice.

  • Liaise and maintain good communication with Client and other Stakeholders as necessary.

  • Ensure client satisfaction in project delivery with a view to obtaining repeat business.

  • Establish and maintaining effective working relationships with staff/Team

  • Work may include field data collection and support on preparation of reports and design documents

  • Gather and maintain market and technical knowledge, and share it with other Department members providing the know-how to clients and other staff members.

  • Maintain professional development with a view to attaining Chartership. Carry out recording of CPD through internal and external training.

Minimum Requirements

The successful candidate must have minimum 10 years of post qualification experience as well as the following:

  • Familiarity of water industry practices and regulations (Experience in Qatar is a plus)

  • Design of Water supply network and transmission lines

  • Good background in hydraulics

  • Infoworks WS modelling experience is a must

  • Experience in surge analysis, foul sewerage, stormwater drainage, pump stations is preferred.

  • Excellent communication skills to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintaining effective working relationships with staff/Team

  • Thorough knowledge of current technology

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required

  • Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field preferred.

  • Registration with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) is an advantage. Selected candidate would be required to provide all documentation necessary for MME registration.
