Job Summary

AECOM are seeking a Senior Site Engineer to join our project in Doha, Qatar.

Reporting to the Resident Engineer, the Senior Site Engineer is responsible for all aspects of the inspection activities on the project. The Senior Site Engineer’s tasks are to observe the Contractor’s construction practices and progress of work in accordance with the requirements of the Contract. The Senior Site Engineer is required to liaise with the Contractor’s Staff and Utilities companies to co-ordinate works between the two parties.

The main responsibility is to make sure that work is carried out to the Project Works Authority’s (PWA) standards, specification and schedule.

  • Ensure the correct contract drawings and specifications are used by the site supervision team in the monitoring of the works;

  • Review shop drawings and material submissions; make recommendation for approval or otherwise to the Resident Engineer;

  • Provide input for the Resident Engineer to respond to the Contractor’s technical queries;

  • Monitor work on variations, maintain records and feedback of the effects on progress to the Resident Engineer;

  • Investigate construction issues and provide solutions and corrective actions for the Resident Engineer to issue instructions for additional works or variations;

  • Provide information and input from the inspection team to the monthly progress report;

  • Liaise and coordinate between the Contractor and Utilities authorities on diversionary works;

  • Review the Contractors inspection and test plans in accordance with the contract requirements and coordinate inspections with the Senior Works Inspector and Senior Materials Engineer, ensuring all inspection and testing activities are carried out in accordance with project procedures;

  • Ensure sign off all Requests for Inspection (RFI) and hold points with the Contractor;

  • Where work or materials do not comply; report to the Resident Engineer that the work or materials must be re-tested, remedied or removed, as appropriate or an Non-Conformance Report (NCR) raised;

  • Ensure non-compliant works are re-tested, remedied or removed and NCR’s are closed out by the Contractor;

  • Liaise with the QA/QC Engineer and Safety Engineer to flag and rectify any issues which may affect the quality and safety of the Works

Minimum Requirements

  • ​Minimum 14 years experience since obtaining maximum educational qualification

  • Minimum 7 years experience in similar project specific role of which are in a supervisory and Construction management role in infrastructure and roads projects. Familiar with requirements of Project Works Authority in Qatar

  • Experience within the Middle East region preferred

  • Candidate must hold a valid Driving license

Preferred Qualifications

  • BSc, BEng, BA or equivalent – Western qualification preferred but not essential

  • Chartered Status/Professional License preferred but not required

  • Technical Diploma - Minimum qualification
