Job Summary

AECOM is currently seeking an experienced Planning Engineer to be based in Qatar. Reporting to the Senior Planning Engineer; the Planning Engineer is to provide the technical resource to track progress, monitor and report on the Contractor’s construction programme using Primavera P6. The ideal candidate will have previous experience with Pump Stations, drainage and utilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The main responsibilities of the Planning Engineer are to monitor and report on the Contractor’s construction programme; and expected to perform the following tasks:

  • Understand work scope, quantity and familiar with logical sequencing of construction disciplines;

  • Provide detailed review, analysis and monitoring of the procurement and construction programmes of the Contractor, Subcontractors and Utilities;

  • Work closely on a day to day basis with the planners of the Contractor to monitor and/or amend the Contractor’s baseline programme of Work;

  • Provide progress reports, graphs and critical path analysis for the monthly and weekly progress reports to the PMC;

  • Report to the Senior Planning Engineer any risks, opportunities and any mitigation strategies to maintain the project completion date;

  • Review actual progress against the construction programme and prepare and report to the to the Senior Resident Engineer accordingly;

  • Attend site and convene workshops with the site supervision team as necessary to get snap-shots in time and keep update on actual progress on site;

  • Conduct independent site visits to evaluate the contractor’s site progress against his programme and report to the Senior Planning Engineer accordingly;

  • Provide support to the Senior Planning Engineer in understanding the programme risks and opportunities of potential additional works and variation proposals;

  • Maintain records of monitoring of the programme to enable input and support to the Senior Resident Engineer and Senior Planning Engineer to evaluate any related Contractor claims and variations as considered necessary; and,

  • Provide assistance to the PMC during negotiations, arbitration, or any other forms of dispute resolution.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 14 years’ experience since obtaining maximum educational qualification

  • Minimum 10 years experience in similar project specific role in infrastructure and roads projects. Familiar with requirements of Project Works Authority in Qatar

  • Experience within the Middle East region required but not essential​

Preferred Qualifications

  • BSc, BEng, BA or equivalent – Western qualification preferred but not essential

  • Chartered Status/Professional License preferred but not essential
