Job Summary

The Buildings + Places business line of AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer for its Denver office to coordinate the MEP engineering group. Candidate will be responsible for the day to day project and client management for multiple projects from initial planning through construction. This position may include management of several MEP teams, and/or management of subcontractors and may include business development and marketing support for proposals and presentations. Our primary markets are sports arena/athletics, higher education, Corporate, and Federal.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Works independently with general guidance and directs project team execution

  • Serves as technical advisor; provide senior level input and evaluation on projects

  • Works cooperatively with the Managing Principal evaluating staffing needs;

  • Establishes and maintains quality and accuracy standards

  • Works cooperatively with other managers and employees to achieve company’s mission

  • Organizes discipline efforts; plans, develops, coordinates and directs the completion of assigned discipline projects

  • Ensures discipline plans are created that meet overall project team requirements for project scope and schedule

  • Accountable for assuring that a project plan is developed for each project and thoroughly communicated, understood and utilized by the project lead team

  • Serves as a quality control reviewer

  • Ensures conformance with standards, established design practices, applicable codes, and technical adequacy of design and construction

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 10+ years of industry-related experience, including at least 3 years of project management experience

  • Related experience in electrical design and the preparation of construction documents

  • Registered Professional Engineer in Colorado or ability to obtain by reciprocity

  • LEED accredited

  • Strong technical knowledge and ability to serve in the role as a Project Manager responsible for a multi-disciplinary team in the development of comprehensive, coordinated construction documents for small to large diverse and complex projects

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Revit Experience

  • Competent in all conventional aspects of Electrical Engineering and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard Electrical and able to coordinate the MEP work

  • Knowledge of and experience with high performance and sustainable building practices

  • Experience in leading teams of in-house and consultant staff

  • Excellent supervisory skills and ability to communicate with and motivate team members

  • Must be able to supervise staff on multiple projects, provide management, technical leadership and support to team members, and verify that all work is completed as planned and scheduled in compliance with company quality assurance practices

  • Demonstrates creativity, foresight and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving problems

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

  • Due to the nature of this work, qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have the ability to travel 15% of the time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Commercial and Real Estate experience

  • Sports arena, higher education, and Federal projects experience

  • NCEES Record or ability to be licensed in multiple states
