About the Business Line
We create comprehensive delivery solutions for water, wastewater and wet weather systems, desalination, water resources, water reuse, tunneling, and community infrastructure through traditional and alternative delivery services such as program management and design-build.
The Water Business Unit of AECOM is actively seeking a talented Entry-level candidate with a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in civil engineering for a position as an Entry-Level Structural Engineer. The appropriate qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate interest and studies in structural engineering. The Water Business Unit serves local, state, federal, and private clients for a variety of projects involving stormwater, wastewater, dams, mining, and geotechnical services. As a member of the Structural Engineering team, you will gain experience in design, analysis, inspection, and monitoring of dams, hydraulic structures, wastewater structures, mining structures, and more! Under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer:
Perform structural computations and analysis of hydraulic structures under the direct supervision of professional or experienced engineers
Make technical assumptions and think independently to complete assigned work
Prepare drawings and visual aids through coordination with CAD team
Conduct quantity calculations, prepares reports, and creates report figures
Perform assignments designed to develop professional knowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and codes
Responsible for quality control of small tasks or segments of larger projects
Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil engineering or other related field required; must be taking structural elective courses
Relevant internship experience
Knowledge of statics, dynamics, and materials to understand and determine structural loads
Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software
Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models)
Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering exam or successful completion within the first six months of employment
Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as, SAP2000, STAAD, and ANSYS)
Understanding of hydraulic structures and seismic analysis
Knowledge of structural engineering design of reinforced concrete, steel, and timber
Prior knowledge of structural codes such as ACI 318, ACI 350, AISC Manual of Steel Construction, and ASCE 7
