Job Summary

The Transportation Division of AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented Chief Inspector at Denver International Airport under the Quality Assurance Inspection and Special Inspections Contract.

The Chief Inspector will perform and supervise construction inspection work overseeing a variety of construction activities with regard to all DEN capital improvement projects from project inception to completion. Inspection may include projects involving repairs, maintenance or alterations and ensures compliance with approved plans, specifications, contract requirements and established standards and codes.

For this AECOM Contract, the Chief Inspector is responsible to the DEN Quality Assurance Manager and supports the Quality Assurance Manager’s administration of the DEN Contracts and site coordination for projects at Denver International Airport. The Chief Inspector will monitor the day−to−day activities of the Project Inspectors, contactors and sub-contractors assigned to various airport projects, both building and civil related. This job responsibility includes ensuing that all project construction is conducted consistently with the construction documents, applicable building codes, good workmanship, and the QC requirements of the DEN Contracts.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs of specialized construction inspection work on small to large and complex DEN capital improvement projects.

  • Supervision of Project Inspectors performing inspection services for DEN projects.

  • Produces QA inspection reports and oversees correction of noted deficiencies.

  • Coordination of project materials testing efforts through the DEN Quality Assurance Materials Testing Laboratory.

  • Utilizes QA system controls including BIM 360 Field.

The Chief Inspector must be alert to detecting, recording, and reporting any deviation from the construction documents, including calling any deficient item to the attention of the contactor, subcontractor, Quality Assurance Manager, and/or other representative. The Chief Inspector must keep accurate and detailed records of the Contractor's performance and progress, delivery of materials, and other pertinent matters, including the daily work journal and inspection reports.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma

  • 5+ years of construction inspection experience monitoring building and/or civil construction

  • Competencies, Knowledge and Skills: Building and/ or Civil Construction, Quality Inspection and Management, Soil Science, Arithmetic/Mathematical Reasoning, Public Safety and Security, Teamwork, Integrity/Honesty, Attention to Detail, Reading, Writing and Oral Communication, Technical Competence, Problem Solving, Decision Making, Reasoning.

  • Technical Skills / Certificates: Have or have the ability to acquire relevant building and civil inspection certifications. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment. Computer and tablet competency. Position requires a valid Colorado Class R Driver’s License at the time of application.

  • Valid drivers license.

  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred

  • Airport experience preferred

  • BIM 360 experience preferred

  • CDOT Inspector certification

  • Civil inspection certifications for concrete, asphalt, erosion control, traffic control

  • Building inspection certifications for electrical, mechanical, plumbing, structural, masonry, insulation, metal decking, paints and coatings, IBC Special Inspections and general building construction

  • Knowledge of FAA specifications and regulations
