About the Business Line
We provide professional services in areas such as aviation, transit, freight rail, highways and bridges, planning, and ports and marine. Our global network of top-tier specialists delivers comprehensive services over the full life cycle of a project to benefit clients in government and private industries.
AECOM are currently expanding their Local Roads team capability and capacity in London following several major project wins across the UK and Europe. Our Transportation team currently has a vacancy for an Associate Director with experience and an academic qualification relevant to transportation.
We are looking for a self-motivated person with leadership skills to drive the development and growth of a new office in Croydon and to take a key leadership role in the delivery of challenging frameworks and projects. Particular knowledge and experience in business development and team leadership will be required. The successful candidate will manage a large team which forms part of the overall Local Roads Team. You will be recently chartered or working to achieve this status and will have proven business development, team leadership, design and project management experience delivering to quality, time and budget. The role would suit a self-motivated individual looking to advance their career in a dynamic team.
The appropriate level of technical expertise or educational background is required in order that the Job / Project Accountabilities listed below can be carried out to the necessary standard:
Oversee the delivery of traffic engineering studies from feasibility through to detail design, taking responsibility for the role of Project Director.
Establishing strong working relationships with other internal teams within AECOM’s transportation division.
Development of Client relationships through business development being the key point of contact for meetings and liaison.
Prepare detailed client briefs or fee proposals and contribute to major bids.
Act as a Project Director/Manager including monitoring financial performance.
Ensure technical content and quality of output produced is in line with the project brief.
Ensure the team are up to date in the latest industry standards and techniques.
Undertake Health & Safety duties including ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for the project team members and fulfilling all responsibilities for health and safety in design.
Support Regional Director of the Local Roads team.
Manage team and career progression of line reports.
Actively recruit to grow the team.
Working on a variety of projects as Project Director/Manager or task manager leader.
You will have excellent technical and communication skills along with experience of undertaking a range of traffic engineering related projects.
You will be able to demonstrate experience or understanding of Health and Safety including CDM responsibilities.
You will have a flexible approach to supporting project and business development activities across wider AECOM geographies, for example in Mainland Europe, Russia, Middle East and Africa.
You will be able to demonstrate strong business development and team leadership experience.
Ability in dealing directly with clients and client relationship management, ability to engage and influence at a senior level within client organisations.
Successful delivery bids and proposals.
Proven ability of managing and growing a team, with strong leadership skills and the ability to develop and maintain a highly motivated project delivery team.
Project delivery, ability to effectively manage project commercial risks.
You will have a strategic insight and the ability to conceptualise, develop and deliver value added, flexible propositions.
Good industry profile, the gravitas to represent AECOM with major clients.
BSc, BEng or MEng degree in Civil Engineering or other relevant subject You will have a relevant degree and will be a Chartered Engineer or will be working towards an appropriate Chartered status with membership of a professional institution.
