Job Summary

AECOM has an excellent career opportunity for a creative, highly talented Hydraulics Engineer for immediate employment in the Coral Gables, FL office. This person will assist in the planning, permitting, and design, of water / wastewater conveyance and surface water engineering projects. This position is for an Engineer IV that would like to advance into Project Management.

AECOM offers a dynamic atmosphere and career growth opportunities for a Project Engineer I with strong communication skills interested in water resources work for a variety of local and regional clients. The successful candidate will be given tasks that will build on his or her experience in order to eventually be responsible for the oversight through the lifecycle of an engineering project. Duties include technical execution of:

  • Hydrologic & Hydraulic and water quality modeling

  • Modeling and design of water distribution and wastewater collection and transmission systems

  • Site Design and Low Impact Development

  • Capital improvement planning and design for rehabilitation, maintenance and retrofit projects

  • Watershed and Drainage Basin Evaluation and Design

  • Technical reports and studies

  • State and Federal Permitting

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Civil, Hydraulic, Water Resources or Environmental Engineering

  • 5+ years of experience as consulting engineer in the computer modeling of Hydraulic, stormwater or water resource fields

  • Basic AutoCAD and ArcGIS skills

  • Computer Modeling Experience in programs such as InfoSWMM, InfoWater, InfoWorks CS/ICM, and DHI Products AdICPR, ASAD, EPA-SWMM, HEC-RAS and Hydroflow along with Visual Basic Application programing

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to prepare written reports and permit applications

  • Good analytical skills to interpret data and modeling results

  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and oversee work of less experienced engineers

  • Ability to obtain licensed or Professional Engineer registration

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Civil, Water Resources or Environmental Engineering

  • 7+ years of experience as consulting engineer with experience performing Hydraulic modeling

  • Actively participates in technical or professional societies

  • Experience linking ArcGIS and hydraulic models

  • Licensed as a Florida Professional Engineer
