About the Business Line


We create comprehensive delivery solutions for water, wastewater and wet weather systems, desalination, water resources, water reuse, tunneling, and community infrastructure through traditional and alternative delivery services such as program management and design-build.

Job Summary

Recent growth in AECOM’s Water Resources group client base and projects has created an opportunity for a Water Resource Engineer. AECOM provides creative solutions that encourages professional and personal support for its team members.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Engineering support and task management on water and wastewater projects for AECOM’s power and manufacturing clients

  • Collaborate with a team of highly experienced senior engineers and AECOM project managers

  • Support water and wastewater studies, planning, design, and permitting for power generation clients

  • Expertise in a broad range of water engineering and permitting including NPDES, water/wastewater withdrawal/usage, and CWA 316a/316b, intake and withdrawal design

  • Support the industrial water/wastewater group on multiple projects within the US

  • Performs mathematical modeling and regulatory reviews to support mixing zone evaluations

  • Assists with consulting and conceptual engineering for our clients through all phases of project execution from conceptual engineering through construction closeout and operations.

  • Assists in developing proposals, engineering estimates and work plans

  • Assists in the execution of business, technical, fiscal, and administrative functions of the assigned, project, or sub-task

  • Assists in developing budgets, schedules and plans for the various elements of projects

  • Provide effective liaison with support departments, other offices, or subsidiaries, to complete project teams capable of completing quality work

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering - preferably chemical, civil, or environmental

  • 5+ years of experience in water and wastewater engineering and permitting practice especially power generation related, NPDES, water/wastewater withdrawal/usage, and CWA 316a and 316b

  • Proven competency in delivering consulting and conceptual design projects involving industrial water and wastewater treatment

  • Knowledge of power related water/wastewater regulations and compliance strategies

  • Sound understanding of business principles of consulting projects

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, flexible and adaptable work style

  • Experience and technical subject matter expertise with the following water and wastewater service/subject matter areas: strategic planning, NPDES permitting, CWA 316 permitting, technology evaluations to improve fish protection, intake and withdrawal design

  • U.S. Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications

  • P.E. license

  • CORMIX modeling experience
