AECOM is seeking an Operating Engineer II for a manufacturing facility in Columbus, GA!
This is primarily a 1st shift position that supports a 24/7 operation; scheduled work hours and overtime may vary based on critical business demand.
The Operating Engineer II supports the daily functions within our maintenance department, primarily performing routine PM’s as well as some troubleshooting and repair of facilities systems and associated equipment while accompanied by a more experienced technician.
Equipment includes, but is not limited to: electrical distribution, plumbing & piping systems, Sullair 250 hp screw type air compressors, compressed air driers, packaged rooftop air conditioning equipment from 5 to 90 tons capacity, fire monitoring, alarm and protection systems, building automation system, and other related building equipment and systems.
The Operating Engineer II will document and input all data on PMs and repairs into a CMMS. In addition, general maintenance tasks will be required.
Performs Preventive and Corrective Maintenance work orders per established schedules.
Assists co-workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
Assists the team in correcting problems with the plant facilities equipment such as electrical distribution, air conditioning equipment, water distribution and sanitary drains, air compressors and driers,
Assists with monitoring building automation systems to ensure proper operation of air handling equipment and room temperatures including start up and shutdown, and normal operating conditions.
Performs basic repairs to piping systems including pumps, motors, and valves.
Performs daily “Rounds” readings and submits summary status reports to management on issues and equipment condition.
Understands and complies with all Environmental, Safety and Health (ES&H) programs and procedures.
Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures and wearing PPE as required.
Operates a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers and diagnostic hardware to perform work.
Demonstrates flexible in the day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer.
Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
Two years of experience as an industrial central utility plant Operating Engineer or Stationary Engineer, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed based on critical business demand.
Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
This position may require a valid Driver’s License.
This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.
This position will require the ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.
This position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.
Requires the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
Requires the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift.
Requires the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift.
Requires the ability to regularly kneel repetitive for shift.
Requires the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift.
Requires the ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift.
Requires the ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift.
Requires the use of a Company/Client approved utility knife.
Requires the ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.
Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.
Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.
Associate’s degree or equivalent trade school in industrial electrical, mechanical, HVAC, or a related skilled trade.
EPA approved Universal CFC certification.
Experience troubleshooting and repairing facility related equipment.
Experience working with industrial or manufacturing plant HVAC systems, air handling units, air compressors, air dryers, heat exchangers, exhaust systems, and building automation control systems.
Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS); MAXIMO experience preferred.
Ability to read and understand repair manuals, specifications, drawings, and schematic diagrams.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be willing to work overtime when required. May be required to work holidays and weekends.
