Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Facility Maintenance Planner/Scheduler in Columbus, GA! Typical work schedule is Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm; hours may vary based on business demand.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: planning preventive/corrective maintenance activities daily for three shifts of facilities maintenance support, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and general maintenance technicians; obtaining proposals from qualified suppliers; preparing requisitions; providing schedules and coordinating work; and developing machine specific and general job plans. The Planner / Scheduler also assists with the safety program.

Experience working with a CMMS is required, as is the ability to create spreadsheets and power point presentations and the ability to create and present planning / scheduling metrics to management staff. Successful candidates demonstrate the ability to work with limited supervision in a fast-paced industrial, large commercial or logistics environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Schedule daily, weekly and monthly planned Demand Work Orders and Preventive Maintenance (PM) Work Orders.

  • Distribute Demand and PM Work Orders and assist Supervisor or Leads with job coordination.

  • Maintain status of Demand and PM Work Orders and oversee compliance to established work order priorities.

  • Maintain and control work order documents that are awaiting parts or are on hold.

  • Create BOMs and parts lists needed for PMs.

  • Manage the work order backlog.

  • Estimate labor hours required to perform work.

  • Perform job site analysis as required.

  • Analyze and report data on Demand and PM Work Orders such as: overdue, backlog, received/ completed statistics and additional reports as requested for monthly reporting to Program Manager and Supervisor.

  • Work with the Supervisor, Leads, Technicians and Procurement to ensure accurate and timely communication with the requestor(s) regarding status of work orders such as: awaiting parts, on hold, or that have been rescheduled.

  • Walk the facility to monitor work order completion and understand any delays in completions.

  • Coordinate requests for contracted services with Procurement, the appropriate Supervisor, Lead and client.

  • Work with and oversee subcontractor activities.

  • Provide recommendations with regards to facilities equipment and utility systems maintenance programs.

  • Read and interpret blue prints, schematics and one-line drawings.

  • Utilize computer maintenance managements system (MAXIMO) to plan and schedule work.

  • Maintain high level of customer service.

  • Adjust to changing conditions and occasionally work second shift, holidays, and weekends as required.

  • Perform under minimal supervision and exercise independent judgment in problem resolution.

  • Safely performs functions of the position to insure adherence to established safety guidelines such as Arcflash safety procedures, job hazards analysis (JHAs), lockout/tagout, and the wearing of appropriate PPE by technicians and subcontractors performing electrical and other work under your direction.

  • Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in a facility management, engineering, or technical field, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience. 8 years of experience in industrial facilities maintenance will be considered demonstrated equivalent experience with no degree.

  2. Experience using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

  • This position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.

Physical Requirements:

  • Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.

  • Some tasks will require the ability to walk extensively throughout facilities during a workday.

  • Requires ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen.

  • Requires ability to use a variety of office equipment and to operate a computer keyboard to access data bases, to send/receive messages and to prepare documents.

  • Requires ability to attend meetings throughout the site and potentially travel to other AECOM, customer and/or vendor locations in the area, as well as some air travel to more distant locations.

  • Requires the ability to communicate with others on the telephone and in one-on-one or group discussions, meetings and presentations.

  • Demonstrated fluency in computer use including the full Microsoft product line.

  • Requires some moving of light to medium weight materials into desks, filing cabinets and other storage locations.

  • Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.

Special Requirements:

  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.

  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience using Maximo or SAP.

  2. Preventive and/or Predictive maintenance planning experience.

  3. Reliability Based Maintenance (RBM) experience.

  4. Ability to coordinate parts and assign the appropriate skilled labor to ensure successful completion.

  5. Ability to write processes and procedures related to facility maintenance work.

  6. Experience utilizing Continuous Improvement disciplines such as Six Sigma, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, 4 M's, etc.

  7. Demonstrated understanding of an effective safety culture.

  8. Education, experience, and skills that align with growth into a leadership, management, or supervisory position.

  9. Administrative, organizational and computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office programs (Excel, Word, and Outlook).

  • Must be willing to work overtime when required. May be required to work holidays and weekends.
