AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Transportation Engineer to assistance our growing Transportation Group with Design and Plan Development Tasks. The appropriately qualified applicant will have demonstrated experience in roadway design which may include intersection design, interchange design, streetscape design, and sidewalk design and have a thorough understanding of the preparation of construction documents, including plans, specifications and construction estimates. Incumbent may be based out of our Columbia or Greenville office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Utilizing Microstation, Geopak and other Design Software in the preparation of alignments, profiles, cross section and other design related tasks

  • Overseeing entry level engineers and technicians to develop roadway design plans for transportation projects for SCDOT and municipalities

  • Reviewing Roadway plans and designs for consistency with current Design Standards including, SCDOT, AASHTO, MUTCD, Etc.

  • Assisting with project scoping and budget development for roadway design projects

  • Completing quantity take offs and preparing cost estimates

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited school or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities and experience

  • 5+ years of experience working on transportation projects

  • Ability to scope/estimate complex roadway projects

  • Ability to Track and manage project budgets and schedules

  • Good computer skills using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software

  • Proficient in Microstation V8i and Geopak

  • Must be able to work well in a team environment

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and excellent organizational skills

  • Diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas related to highway geometric design, intersection design, utilities, infrastructure, earthwork, drainage and streetscape

Preferred Qualifications

  • EIT or PE

  • Drainage / Hydraulic Roadway Design Experience
