Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Roadway Engineer / Designer for employment in the Columbia, SC office. The qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in performing engineering analysis and design for roadways associated with Transportation projects. As an AECOM Roadway Engineer you can look forward to projects including various assignments for the Department of Transportation and local municipalities throughout South Carolina. You will also be responsible for developing strong working relationships with clients and staff and expected to maintain a high level of project standards to meet and exceed client expectations.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs engineering analysis and plans preparation associated with roadway infrastructure improvements

  • Performs roadway design and production for transportation projects including calculations and plans preparation

  • Works under the direction of senior staff to develop plans and calculations for transportation projects

  • Understands applicable policies, methods, practices, and procedures

  • Assists in development of roadway geometrics and preparation of quantities

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field

  • 2+ years of relevant work experience

  • Prior experience as roadway engineer on transportation project

  • Experience and ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment in the solution of work problems

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Experience in design of roadway geometrics and plans preparation in compliance with SCDOT standards

  • Experience in design of pedestrian improvement projects

  • Experience with the following software: Geopak, Inroads, Corridor Modeling, Autoturn, Microstation or other equivalent CAD software

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of relevant work experience
