Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.
AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented and hardworking UXO Tech I for immediate employmentat our Clackamas, OR project location.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Performing reconnaissance and classification of UXO.
Identifying U.S. and foreign guided missiles, bombs and bomb fuses, projectiles and projectile fuses, grenades and grenade fuses, rockets and rocket fuses, land mines and associated components, pyrotechnics, military explosives, and demolition materials
Performs location of subsurface UXO using military and/or civilian magnetometers or all-metals detectors
Assists in performing excavation procedures on buried UXO
Performs operator maintenance of military and/or civilian magnetometers
Locates surface UXO using visual means.
Assists in transporting and storing UXO and demolition materials
Preparing non-electric firing system for a UXO disposal operation
Preparing electric firing system for a UXO disposal operation disposing of ammunition/ explosives by burning; disposing of ammunition/explosives by detonation.
Operating a personnel decontamination station. Dons and doffs appropriate personal protective equipment in contaminated areas. Assists in the inspection of salvage UXO-related material and erection of UXO-related protective works
In accordance with Department of Defense Explosives Safety Board Technical Paper 18 (DDESB TP-18), a UXO Technician I shall meet the following minimum requirements:
Graduate of an EOD assistant course; or an accredited UXO technician training course; or military EOD school of the US, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, or Australia.
Minimum 1 year prior military EOD experience and/or MEC-related experience as defined by DDESB TP-18 in munitions response action or range clearance activities, as appropriate for the contracted operation
Additionally, the candidate must possess:
40-hr OSHA HAZWOPER training certificate
Valid driver’s license
Candidate must also:
Pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check; many projects/ clients are security sensitive
Pass pre-employment drug screen.
Participate in and successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment fitness for duty questionnaire
Participate in and successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment baseline physician physical IAW 29 CFR 1910.120. Once the baseline is established, this is physical is required annually
Physically able, with or without an accommodation, to work in outdoor environments with uneven terrain, variable outdoor conditions including heat, cold, moisture, dust and noise; position requires lifting of weight up to 25 lbs. for 50% of the day; lifting of weight 25-50 lbs. for 25-50% of the day; walking/standing and stooping/bending greater than 50% of the day. Position will include wearing associated personal protective equipment
This position is contingent upon passing a Fit for Duty exam by receiving a medically “qualified” fit for duty result letter indicating the employee is medically “qualified” to conduct work activities at the jobsite. The Fit for Duty medical exam consists of a Harvard Stress Test and a human performance evaluation with a requirement to demonstrate the ability to lift 50 pounds. The Harvard Stress Test is a type of cardiac stress test used for detecting and diagnosing cardiovascular disease. It also is a good measurement of fitness and a person's ability to recover after strenuous exercise. In addition to these tests, medical tests will be administered that are required for the annual HAZWOPER exam
Participate in and successfully complete post-offer, pre-employment baseline physical in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.120. Thereafter, candidate must also comply with OSHA (29 CFR 1910.120) requirements including 40hr/8 hr, medical surveillance
