Job Summary

The GIS Department of AECOM in the Cincinnati, OH office seeks a motivated, energetic, and highly talented GIS professional. The appropriately qualified candidate will join a team of cultural resource professionals and environmental scientists engaged in a diverse suite of projects serving clients in multiple sectors, including archaeological and architectural history surveys and reporting, route/site selection, siting and licensing of utility projects, environmental permitting, environmental field surveys, and site development.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Utilize GIS techniques and software to provide a better understanding of certain variables in a given geographic location

  • Work under general supervision to complete GIS projects including extraction and analysis of data, and recommendations based on results

  • Apply full competency in GIS studies related to functional area of assignment

  • Plan and conduct GIS work related to detailed phases of major projects

  • Conduct data gathering, conversion, analysis, manipulation and processing of spatial data using computerized GIS

  • Develop and evaluate plans and criteria in quality assurance/control

  • Recommend solutions to assignment problems

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in GIS, archaeology, anthropology, geography, planning, ecology, environmental science or related field, or demonstrated equivalent ability and/or experience

  • 4+ years of related experience including cartographic experience, experience using ArcGIS and mapping results of ecological and/or cultural resources field surveys (would consider 1-2 years of course work experience as a substitute for work experience)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Knowledge of GPS hardware and software, and the integration of GPS data into GIS software

  • Must have extensive experience (2+ years) working with ArcGIS and GIS databases

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct consulting experience performing tasks related to field surveys and cultural resource issues
