Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Marketing Manager for immediate employment in Chicago, IL. The successful candidate collaborates with the region leadership and business development teams (across all business lines) to participate in the development and resourcing of marketing strategies to support business growth. This person will lead the region’s marketing team and serve as a member of the DCS marketing leadership team.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Primary internal marketing contact on point for the Midwest Area

  • Liaises with the region(s) management and business development teams (across all business lines) to participate in development and lead execution of marketing strategies

  • Oversees a team(s) of marketing specialists within the region

  • Allocates marketing resources and ensures adherence to quality standards

  • Member of the DCS Americas Marketing leadership team: collaborates with the overall marketing leadership team in resourcing the most important marketing work for AECOM

  • The position reports to the Marketing Director of DCS Americas and serves as a member of the region’s leadership team

  • Special projects as directed by DCS Americas Marketing Director


  • Assigns, manages, evaluates, and promotes marketing personnel responsible for the production of marketing and business development requests, including statements of qualifications, proposals, presentations, and other marketing materials

  • Conducts work status meetings, logs and tracks status of marketing projects, provides status updates and reports through Salesforce and other communication mediums

  • Oversees the management of Salesforce information and assists with key reporting on region’s pipeline status

  • Responsible for ensuring staff are trained on AECOM policies, procedures, templates, and systems

  • Staff development, retention, and engagement

Pursuit Strategy, Development and Quality:

  • Manages the quality of materials produced by the firm in response to formal and informal client solicitations, including requests for qualifications (RFQ), requests for proposals (RFP), and for pre-solicitation efforts

  • Makes work assignments and follows up to ensure tasks and projects are completed to the highest standards of quality, timeliness, and cost effectiveness

  • Leads and/or participates in pre-RFP proposal planning with capture teams and helps develop and apply the win plan, themes, and discriminators in marketing materials

  • Manages key pursuits within the Region as may be required

  • Assures pursuits are compliant with the clients’ requirements; writes, edits, coordinates proposal content as may be required

  • Organizes materials for management review teams

  • Attends proposal review meetings, articulates rationale, and substantiates compliance of marketing materials with client defined requirements during review meetings. Manages the implementation of proposal and presentation revisions based on direction from review teams

Marketing Communications and Infrastructure

  • Regional liaison for conference requests emanating from within the region

  • Coordinates and collaborates as appropriate with the Marketing Communications team and/or others as may be appropriate

  • Requests including sponsorship management, development of marketing materials, display booths and other activities related to conference and trade shows

  • Manages Regional requests for communications activities including awards submissions, article placements, ads, and collateral

  • Ensures that region’s key practice and management personnel have media training

  • Accountable for the quality and completeness of Salesforce opportunity data for the region

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing or a related field

  • 8+ years of related experience or equivalent experience

  • Knowledge of marketing procedures, work processes, and tools, along with evidence of past successful management of marketing projects and teams

  • Thorough understanding of effective document and presentation production, and an in-depth understanding of proposal and presentation psychology and how to convey messages, themes, discriminators, and responses to evaluation criteria clearly and effectively

  • Knowledge of the AECOM’s structure, businesses, clients, goals, objectives, standards, and principles of corporate conduct

  • Experience managing teams and leaders of teams with demonstrated ability to set direction, coach, mentor, and provide constructive criticism in a team setting and one-on-one

  • Ability to produce accurate, correct and complete work independently

  • Professional demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills

  • Initiative and personal commitment to manage multiple projects and details concurrently, follow up, and bring tasks and projects to full completion

  • Organizational and administrative skills, including the ability to complete varied work tasks on schedule, and direct team work; the proven ability to manage documents

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Understanding of pursuit protocol as well as effective proposals and presentation creation

  • Understanding of desktop publishing software (e.g., InDesign, Adobe Creative Suite), graphics programs (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop), word processing programs (e.g., Microsoft Word), spreadsheet management (Excel), and presentation software (e.g., PowerPoint. Prezi)

  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of CRM

  • Salesforce experience

  • Ability to write and edit correspondence and proposal materials
