Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented, and motivated Construction Department Manager for immediate employment for the Chicago, IL office. Responsibilities will include the management of the Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) department staff, oversight and management of active projects, and business development. Projects may include roadways/highways, bridges, utilities, and misc. facilities related to transportation construction projects for a range of prospective clients, including IDOT, ISTHA, CDOT, and other counties and municipalities.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Establish operational objectives and work plans and delegate assignments to subordinate managers

  • Reviews objectives to determine success of operation

  • Develops, modifies, executes company polices that affect immediate operations and may have company-wide effect

  • Works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives

  • Implements strategic policies when selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results

  • Oversees the administration of projects during the construction cycle including technical, financial, and client satisfaction

  • Accountable for the development, coordination, and execution of the planning, design and/or construction management activities and personnel under his/her direction on a day-to-day basis

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 10+ years experience managing roadway / construction projects

  • Familiarity with IDOT and ISTHA specifications, policies and procedures

  • Experience managing and supervising people

Preferred Qualifications

  • PE license or the ability to obtain one within 12 months

  • IDOT Documentation Certification

  • Computer proficiency in MS Word and Excel and PM software applications

  • Ability to proactively communicate and lead project teams
