Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a Paralegal professional to join its in-house legal team. The primary responsibilities of the position will be to support litigation/claims, transactional and compliance activities in AECOM’s Midwest Region. This position can be based in any major AECOM office in the Midwest.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Assistance in handling and tracking compliance related activities, including requests for contributions and to retain advocates

  • Ability to apply good research skills and techniques into compliance related activities

  • Assemble documents from custodians in response to subpoenas and reviewing same for privilege

  • Assist in preparing litigation hold notices

  • Prepare, disseminate and coordinate approvals for contracts and other matters that require approval

  • Regularly update spreadsheets listing claims, litigations and budgets

  • Draft documents/handouts for meetings and general correspondence

  • Forge and develop relationships across the organization

  • Manage expectations of colleagues in the legal team and the operational business

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 5+ years experience in litigation/claims management including but not limited to: Case file management and related tracking of claims for multiple matters; Assistance in managing discovery (e.g., collection and production of documents, privilege review); Assistance in the investigation of concise issues in support of litigation/claims

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Proficiency in coordinating document productions with internal clients and opposing counsel

  • Working in a hierarchical, matrixed organization

  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills

  • Resourceful, robust and proactive work ethic

  • Willingness to assist with administrative duties

Preferred Qualifications

  • Paralegal Degree/Certificate preferred

  • Working in an in-house legal department
