Position Title TET III Roadway Inspector

Job Summary

The Transportation Division of AECOM is actively seeking a Roadway Construction Inspector for immediate employment; the employee will be assigned to the District 2 Construction Office in Chestertown, MD. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Construction Inspection, specific to bridge and highway construction projects. The employee can look forward to projects including various highway and bridge construction projects in Maryland. This position is contingent upon award of contract.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct concrete tests and soil, sub-grade, and sub-base compaction tests

  • Inspect grading, resurfacing, and drainage structures for satisfactory work and adherence to plans and Maryland State Highway Administration specifications

  • Cover contractor crews and fill out inspector daily reports for men, equipment, and work completed each day including computations for pay items and job notes

  • Provides guidance to contractor personnel on the proper use of Temporary Traffic Control devices/TTC standards

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma

  • 2+ years’ experience in construction inspection

  • MARTCP certifications in concrete, soils & aggregate compaction, pavement markings, and HMA

  • Will need to obtain the MDE Responsible Personnel Certification card, Temporary Traffic Control/Traffic Manager Certification, and nuclear gauge safety training certification

  • Will need to take and pass four SHA Core training certifications.

  • Will need to be able to operate a nuclear gauge

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

  • Elementary knowledge of algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and English

  • Introductory knowledge of elementary engineering methods and techniques

  • Ability to compute simple engineering data

  • Work from simple plans and specifications

  • Make drawings, tracings, and accurate notes

  • Understand and follow written and oral instructions

  • Work effectively with others

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required
