About the Business Line

Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.

Job Summary

AECOM are looking to recruit a Planning Consultant on a 1 year fixed term contract starting ideally in February 2017.

The role would be within the midlands part of our busy Environment and Planning Business unit, which contains a mix of both EIA and Town Planning professionals. The job would principally be based within the Chesterfield office, but with the opportunity to work out of our Nottingham office also.

We work across the development sectors delivering projects of varying scale and complexity and have a client base that includes local authorities, government agencies, developers and other private sector clients.

You will be expected to work closely with environmental and engineering colleagues on a mix of multi-disciplinary and standalone projects, along with planning colleagues in other offices within the UK.

The role presents the opportunity to work on a range of projects and for the right candidate the potential exists for a permanent role at the end of the initial one year contract.

Within the role you will be responsible for;

Preparing and submitting planning applications, including coordinating multi-disciplinary team across various project types;

Providing general planning advice to colleagues and clients;

Undertaking spatial planning work including neighbourhood planning, SEA/SA and Local Plan preparation support;

Working in partnership with other members of the Planning/Environment Team (both within the East Midlands and across the UK), delegating activities to junior staff as applicable;

Monitoring and managing budgets; and

Contributing to the preparation of technical proposals.

Minimum Requirements

To be successful in this role we want to hear from candidates with the following;

Previous relevant experience within the private sector;

Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute;

Able to work on own initiative and under pressure;

Competent in the use of Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint and Word;

Sound knowledge of UK Planning policy and legislation;

Client focused with good interpersonal skills and team approach with a high level of commitment towards the job;

Full current driving licence and access to a form of transport to travel to various sites to carry out

the duties of the post.
