Job Summary

Due to expansion in our Chesterfield office, we are looking for an Engineer to work within our Traffic Engineering team within Transportation.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of client proposals.

  • Appoint external sub-consultants where necessary for production of required data/information.

  • Ensure external sub-consultants produce deliverables against agreed timescale and budget.

  • Monitor and check external sub-consultants’ data for accuracy.

  • Supervise and guide junior team members in analysing data, development of plans, computer modelling and report writing.

  • Contribute to the production of full client report as requested.

  • Respond to client queries resulting from client report.

  • Prepare client presentations and supporting documentation with Senior Manager and attend as necessary.

  • Attend and contribute to client progress meetings and debriefs.

  • Work within financial and programme constraints.

Minimum Requirements

You will have excellent technical and communication skills along with experience of undertaking a range of traffic engineering design projects.

  • Demonstrate experience of traffic engineering/management design at concept, feasibility and preliminary level

  • Ability to demonstrate experience or understanding in the following areas:

  • Understanding of Health and Safety and CDM.

  • Urban street, cycling, walking, road safety, public transport, and parking design

  • Application and use of DMRB, Manual for Streets, the Traffic Signs Regulations and Traffic Signs Manuals.

  • Proficient user of AutoCAD.

  • Dealing directly with clients

  • Contributing to bids and proposals

  • Mentoring junior staff

  • Whilst not essential any of the following skills would be desirable:

  • Appreciation of traffic modelling and ability to interrogate outputs

Preferred Qualifications

  • An Honours Degree in Civil Engineering, ideally with a Masters in Traffic or Transportation related topic.

  • Previous experience in traffic engineering or transportation planning.

  • Completion of RoSPA Accident Investigation Course.

  • Specific relevant experience in the design of traffic engineering schemes and cycle infrastructure design.

  • Experience in the use of junction design software, AutoCAD

  • Experience with MX.

  • Capable of producing reports and designs for small traffic engineering projects with a minimum of supervision.
